It's sad my childhood is dying off. I liked those characters in the show and from what I've seen they were decent people off camera, too.

People are dying who I thought of as kids. I don't like that.

Yeah, it's getting a bit scary isn't it?

Remember watching this show when I was in high school.

Hey... Juan Epstein (Robert Hegyes) died a little while ago. I remember cuz I tweeted a note from his mother explaining why he wouldn't show up for class.

John Travolta better take care.

Science Fiction writer Harry Harrison, author of Make Room! Make Room! (turned into Soylent Green) and the Stainless Steel Rat series, has passed. I always liked the humour he used telling his stories.

I can’t believe it’s been 35 years!

Without a doubt, Elvis Presley was (in his day), the best looking man that ever drew breath! That little crooked smile of his was friggin killer, and check out his tight little butt in this video! OMG! :xo

What a shame his life ended the way it did, very sad.

RIP Elvis

Quote:
LOS ANGELES — Singer Scott McKenzie, who performed "San Francisco (Be Sure to Wear Flowers in Your Hair)" – which became a hit in 1967 during the city's "Summer of Love" – has died.

A statement on McKenzie's website says the 73-year-old died on Saturday in Los Angeles. McKenzie battled Guillain-Barre Syndrome, a disease that affects the nervous system, and had been in and out of the hospital since 2010.

"San Francisco" was written by John Phillips, the leader of the 1960s group The Mamas and the Papas. But McKenzie sang it and it has stood as an anthem for the 1960s counterculture movement.

:(

It is thought he may have had a heart attack in early August, 2012. Staff did not want him to leave the hospital, but he wanted to be at home and passed away on 18th August 2012.

His last Facebook message included a poem written just days before his death.

The Final Ride
© Scott McKenzie (17 August 2012)

But, OH! How I wish I was a true cowboy,
with a great Appaloosa waiting to gallop away,
me sitting on his back, deep into my desert,
far beyond my precious Joshua Tree,
where dreams are made, beautiful dreams,
but this time I need to travel deep into the unknown.
And will I ever come back?
Right now I say no, never.
Oh well, a dream's a dream's a dream's a dream.

Oh, but my mighty Appalooosa's eyes keep firing up,
and his nostrils keep flaring as he transcends the stink and pettiness beneath him,
half riding, half flying toward place still unscarred by any unnatural activity.

ONWARD AND UPWARD! FULL SPEED AHEAD,
MY BEAUTIFUL, MAJESTIC APPALOOSA!
CARRY US ALL TO THE REGIONS WHERE WE CAN DREAM,
WITH NO FEAR AT ALL,
UNINTERRUPTED AND FOREVER FREE FROM FEAR.

I will miss her Fang jokes and how she advised housewives to keep their steam irons filled with vodka.

I loved Phyllis Diller.

She started her entertainment career at 40. She lived to 95. I loved her self-deprecating humor, her laugh and her sense of timing.

RIP, Phyllis. You did it right.

Namaste.

They are dropping like flies today.

William Windom

Quote:
William Windom, TV Everyman, Dies at 88
By ERIC GRODE

William Windom, who won an Emmy Award playing an Everyman drawn from the pages of James Thurber but who may be best remembered for his roles on “Star Trek” and “Murder, She Wrote,” died on Thursday at his home in Woodacre, Calif., north of San Francisco. He was 88.

The cause was congestive heart failure, said his wife, Patricia.

Mr. Windom won the Emmy for best actor in a comedy series in 1970 for his performance in “My World and Welcome to It,” a whimsical TV show based on Thurber’s humorous essays and fantastic cartoons. He subsequently toured the country with a solo show based on Thurber’s works.

But filmgoers and television viewers may be more likely to associate him with roles that, though also fanciful, had a distinctly darker tone. He teamed up with Rod Serling on episodes of both “The Twilight Zone” (“Five Characters in Search of an Exit” in 1961 and “Miniature” in 1963) and “Night Gallery”; played the president in “Escape From the Planet of the Apes”; and had a memorable role in an early episode of “Star Trek.” He was also a guest star on “The Rookies,” “The Streets of San Francisco” and dozens of other television shows.

I think I first remembered him on a show called "The Farmer's Daughter" with Inger Stevens.
