Here we go again, back to long nights and short days. At least for those of us north of the equator. But for today at least, we are more or less equal in this respect.

Just for laughs I stood an egg on its end!

Before you waste your time explaining it's a myth, yes, I know.

Now you tell me. At first I thought I used the wrong end. I'm still hungry. I had a smaller breakfast.

*sigh* This is also part of the Long Goodnight for my mom, but it may be different this time. Good different or Bad different remains to be seen.

The days getting shorter has, in the past, meant earlier sundowning. But since mom's last hospitalization...it's always sundown.

Always.

Yippeee kai-yo-kai-yay...we'll see.

We have some new neighbors directly across the street who are practicing Wiccans. Friday night, they hosted a gathering to celebrate and we stood on our balcony to watch. The drums, horns and chants were truly mesmerizing.

For my 50th birthday I splurged & my daughter & I made a trip to Ireland where my dad's mother was born. My dad has a 1st cousin who'd visited us twice in the US while I was a kid & she's stayed in touch with us through the years. They were the most gracious of hosts & I wish I could have spent a few months there. They took us to Newgrange. Wow!
http://newgrange.com/ I'd heard about Stonehenge but never about Newgrange. At every equinox, I will always remember my Irish ancestors who built Newgrange.

BENDING THE BOYNE: A novel of ancient Ireland by J. S. Dunn is set in that time and place. Those passage mounds are extremely accurately sited for their astronomical purpose. If I get to go back, I want to go to that bend in the Boyne, where some 35 mounds, tombs, or temples are said to be found. Kindle title.

The book has more than a bit of Irish magic and mysticism.
