You folks are making me rethink Amazon Prime. I didn't know you could add family members.

Family members are a major reason we have it. Over the whole family, we are ordering a ton of stuff. Plus, it's all two-day and often we get things overnight because they are being drop-shipped from warehouses nearby anyway. Amazon has started doing used books and CD's too so about half the time I will find a used book is available with "fulfillment by Amazon" with the free two-day into the bargin.

I am a sucker when it comes to books. Thank doG they aren't harmful (except if you are a birther) like heroin because I'd be long dead by now. Some people tithe, I donate the money instead to my "church" more commonly known as a bookstore. Amazon is evil because it leads me to the paths of temptation. They are especially evil when they allow places like Goodwill or Salvation Army to use their site to sell the used books they get in donations. I feel compelled to buy from these folks -- even if I don't need the book -- because I want to do my part to help those who help others. Over the holidays, Amazon forced me, I say forced me, to buy all kinds of old-time TV shows DVD sets by marking down the price to a level they, KNEW, I say KNEW would tempt me. Now I'm surrounded with the the empty boxes that brought temptation right to my doorstep. I am forced to decide which DVD to watch first -- the DVD with the very first Doctor Who episode, or maybe the DVD with Ward Bond as the leader of the "Wagon Train." Maybe I should turn instead to the 80% off specially priced DVD sets of my favorite movie stars, Errol Flynn, Bette Davis... Yes. I must admit that I am powerless over the temptation that Amazon is to me. But on the bright side, reading all those books or watching the DVDs does keep me off the streets making my town just a little bit safer.

That would be "An Unearthly Child" I hope? (Myself, I drag out the "Key to Time" season from time to time to watch).

That's the one. I got Doctor Who: The Beginning (An Unearthy Child / The Daleks / The Edge of Destruction) (1963) Doctor Who If you look at the prices, you'll see the list price is $37, Amazon is currently selling it for $24. My price was only $16 during one of one of Amazon holiday Black Friday type sales that ran for 6 weeks or so. I bought a ton of DVD sets during that period for incredible good prices. I found a number documentaries that haven't been available in what seems like forever like "The Ascent of Man", The "BBC Civilisation: Complete Series", James Burke's The Day the Universe Changed, and lots lots more. I bought the 3 previously mention sets for what would normally be the price for just one of them. I decided that all these DVD sets were my Christmas gift to my favorite person -- me. There are a number of documentary that I wish they would release in DVD format like Dr Robert Winston's The Human Body to give just one example.

Thank a lot. Now I know "Ascent Of Man" is available, I will have to watch it again. That's 13 hours that's going to be missing from my life. I suppose you know you can get "The World At War" on DVD?

I saw that and I debated about buying it, but decided to pass. I did, however buy The First World War, Hitler: The Untold Story, Third Reich: Rise & Fall and World War II Collector's Set: 6 Films. As I said, they were my Christmas gift to me -- and "me" was very, very good last year! The year before, I bought the compete series of Homicide: Life one the Streets for a steal. Like I said, during the holidays, Amazon has some really exceptional prices on DVD sets. And in many cases, my favorite shows, like St Elsewhere don't seem to end up on Netflix so if I get the chance to buy the set at what I consider a good price, I'll buy it since I set money aside for things just like that.
