Four years ago, a friend talked me into doing this 10-week fitness program called the Ultimate Bodyshapong Challenge at our local dojo. It involved three days of cardio kickboxing and three days of strenth training with the bands. I had not been a much of an indoor exerciser before, because we were always outdoors hiking, rafting etc. But this was way fun. Mimi, the instructors kept us laughing, especially for the first 5 weeks.
Those first 5 were brutal. I almost quit, every day. But I didn't, and I lost not so much pounds as inches, 4 in all the measured places, and dropped two sizes. So, i did the program again, and again, consecutively for 18 months. But... A body this old was not meant to pound so hard on the joints. I wrecked my knees, but I have a mean left hook and my side kick is a thing of beauty.
Now it's walking and water workouts for me. I like my knees and don't want to replace them with the latest model just yet.
Mimi, you said you wor out M, T, W and H. For Estiveo, I think that H day would be would be Hellfreezesover; what day is it for you?
I'm not sure I could do that. But, I might give it a try. Idunno. Things hurt now.
I never had problems with my knees. I was never a runner. I did used to do those step aerobics classes way back 25 years ago, but I always took classes from Randy. The ladies who instructed were always having knee surgery (in their 20's!). Randy's classes were not quite as high impact, and I preferred looking at him doing the moves anyway. Yes I did.
I'm having pain in my foot and in my hand. But that's because I hurt both last summer. You know, I just fell (tripped over a dog) and landed on my foot kinda goofy. I am just so graceful! Anyway, it hurt. I put ice on it. Now, it just hurts a little sometimes.
I did something to my thumb while spray painting some wicker, and now my hand hurts most of the time. But just a little hurt, nothing big. I lost strength in it too, I can't do normal stuff with that hand. No big deal. I notice that I overcompensate with the other hand.
Dojo? I took karate lessons for a few months when I lived in Richmond. I didn't really do well at the karate stuff. But I had lots of fun at the classes. At that particular point in my life, those classes were just the right thing for me to do.
I'm happy with the gym I'm going to right now. All those other things are pricier. This gym is great for my needs.
Yesterday, I saw a guy (who reminded me of Hawk) using a piece of equipment. Idunno. Maybe it's a dip bar. He was huge. So after he's done, I go over to give it a try. Yeah, I could do 5!

With his encouragement and tutelage. And then 5 more. Oh boy, do I have work to do.

I went today. I hate the treadmill. But, I did it. I did the crunch machine thing. I am really bad on that. I just hope I keep improving.
