Confession. My way of dealing with the attack of the scary baby bunny was to throw a bunch of carrots in my room with the bunny, close the door, grab the cats and go to sleep in one of the guest rooms - with the door locked (no, I don't know why locked would make a difference to a bunny) amd a blanket under the door.

And then what happened? To the bunny, of course.

Former U.S. Rep. Alan Grayson has won $852,000 in a federal securities case he claimed involved a "Ponzi scheme" that defrauded him and other investors of up to $1 billion.
The award was far smaller than the $30 million Grayson sought. He contended he lost at least that much money, including capital gains, in deals made in 2002 and 2003 with a company called Derivium Capital LLC, and involving Wachovia Securities LLC.

Derivium Capital went out of business and filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in New York in 2005. Grayson filed a separate claim in that case, has won judgments but has not been able to collect.
Grayson pursued Wachovia Securities in 2007 through the U.S. Financial Industry Regulatory Authority, which arbitrates fraud claims against brokerage houses. The authority ruled April 2 that Wachovia Securities is liable for "aiding and abetting breach of fiduciary duty" and must pay Grayson $852,000.

Texas AG releases voters' Social Security numbers in mix-up

AUSTIN — The state attorney general's office accidently provided the Social Security numbers of Texas voters to opposing lawyers as part of a voter ID case, but none of the data leaked out, a top state attorney said on Wednesday.

The Social Security numbers were part of a database of 13.1 million Texas voters turned over to attorneys challenging a new law requiring voters to show state-issued photo identification. The list was supposed to include only the last four digits of the voters' Social Security numbers to allow groups to analyze whether the law would disproportionately keep minorities from voting.

But when two groups opened encrypted discs supplied to them by the attorney general's office, they discovered some entries included the full nine-digit number, said First Assistant Attorney General Daniel Hodge. The problem came about because the information was supplied by 254 county registrars using different forms over several decades and in some cases the full number was entered, he added.

"Any claims the Social Security numbers were exposed to the public are categorically false," Hodge said, explaining that six discs were made and mailed to attorneys in New York and Washington. "Once it was brought to the state's attention ... within 24 hours those discs were reclaimed by the state."
