Breitbart was walking near his house in the Brentwood neighborhood shortly after midnight Thursday when he collapsed, his father-in-law, Orson Bean, said.

Someone saw him fall and called paramedics, who tried to revive him. They rushed him to the emergency room at Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center in Los Angeles, Bean said.

Breitbart had suffered heart problems a year earlier, but Bean said he could not pinpoint what happened.

He was a bad guy -- even a Bad Guy.

I'll give him what I give bad guys: I imagine them the day they were born, with all the potential to do good and decent things. I mourn for that baby. I sincerely do.

And I do offer my (also) sincere condolences to his children (four? not sure how many, that's what I read somewhere), who are certainly shocked and sad this morning. I hope the children find comfort in the days to come.

From our pre-HuffPo, pre-Big Hollywood conversations, I learned some things about Andrew. He was adopted, which is why he was anti-abortion. He told me that his birth mom was kind of hippie, and he had been liberal himself, but after spending time with his father-in-law Orson Bean, his politics shifted.

Andrew was an instigator, a rabblerouser and while our politics so did not line up, he became an unlikely ally of the LGBT community last year when told a CPAC audience

No word yet if the Mormons plan to baptize Andrew.

"The news of Mr. Breitbart's death came as a surprise to me when I was informed of it this morning. My prayers go out to Mr. Breitbart's family as they cope through this very difficult time."

Breitbart incessantly waged war upon the forces of justice and equality, including the Occupy Wall Street movement, whose members he called “rapists,” “murderers” and “freaks and animals.”

But this man seething with hatred was also a husband and father of four young children.

Time to let sleeping dogs lie.

Some of the freepers seem to have a different possible culprit: Bill Ayers, who supposedly prepared and served a meal to Breitbart and Tucker Carlson a few weeks ago.

(Of course, Ayers is in Obama's pocket... wait, no, Obama is in HIS pocket... crap, which is it? I guess maybe Obama is to blame anyway.)
