You go to some parts of southern NJ and you'll see more Confederate flags than US flags.

"Monroe County, Tennessee

Walter Fitzpatrick, a retired naval officer, was arrested for trying to conduct a citizen's arrest of a grand jury foreman in Monroe County. Apparently the jury foreman had refused to convene a grand jury to indict President Barack Obama for treason. After Fitzpatrick was arrested, a man named Carl Swennson from Georgia asked for volunteers to go to the Monroe County jail, release Fitzpatrick and make citizens arrests. A third man named Darren Huff, also from Georgia, was taken into custody when he told police he had an AK-47. Huff is a militia member and a member of an extremist group called the Oath Keepers."

With such apparent rising discontent brewing in the country, should we brace for more violence? Perhaps it's better, instead, to celebrate all those other -- nonviolent -- April 19's in history. After all, they far outnumber the violent ones.

Open Letter to Agents of the Crown

Agents of the Crown = Licensed Attorneys who are members of the Bar, which makes them not be Americans according to the original 13th Amendment.

You are all in breach of the Covenant, in breach of the Trust, in breach of the Contract. In your souls and in commerce, you are in dishonor. Your rights are forfeit and your property is forfeit -- trust or no trust.

I think this dipshit had a bad exprience or two with lawyers. Many of these buffoons learn the hard way in family court that acting like assholes loses them custody of their children and gets them jail time when they don't pay alimony.

A Florida woman is suing the police department in West Memphis, Arkansas for the deaths of her husband and stepson, who were killed in a shootout after opening fire on two police officers last year.

Donna Lee Wray-Kane filed a lawsuit in Florida District Court over what she calls "torture killings and civil rights violations," and is asking for damages of at least $75,000 each for the deaths of her husband and stepson -- to be paid in gold "at $38 per troy ounce," according to the complaint.

Wray-Kane is suing on three counts, for "violations of due process," "arbitrary arrest and detention," and "torture killings." District Judge Richard A. Lazzara called the complaint "nothing more than a nonsensical recitation of various state and federal constitutional articles and amendments, federal statutory laws, and international treaties," the Associated Press reports. He also noted that police departments aren't legal entities and therefore cannot be sued.

The complaint cites everything from the Supremacy Clause of the Constitution, to the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, to the Convention Against Torture, to the UN's charter. And, even more oddly, it cites Article I, section 8, clause 10 of the Constitution, which gives Congress the power to "define and punish Piracies and Felonies committed on the high Seas, and Offences against the Law of Nations."

According to the pdf of the complaints (thanks), Donna Lee Wray-Kane of Clearwater, Fla., has filed this lawsuit in the US District Court for the Middle District of FLORIDA. But all the defendants live in or near West Memphis, Ark. Considering that most of them have absolutely no contact with Florida, and that she's suing (by her own account) more than 200 people, some of them unknown, it would appear that a Florida court is a forum non conveniens and she will have to re-file in a court in Arkansas. And perhaps not a federal court since there has to be complete diversity of citizenship between the two sides and it's possible that at least one of those unknown 200 John Does is a Florida resident.

I doubt Judge Lazzara will put up with it for long. He booted Cook v Simtech in about 24 hours.

A sovereign citizen in upstate New York apologized for harassing government officials with "paper terrorism," which resulted in a sentence of 21 months in federal prison for mail fraud.

Ed Parenteau was sentenced last week and ordered to pay about $8,000 to Ulster County, after he, along with two other sovereign citizens, was convicted of mail fraud after filing fake indictments and sending fake bills, totaling $1.24 trillion, to government officials. "I have learned my lesson and I will never do anything like this again," he told District Judge Thomas McAvoy Friday.

Parenteau claims he learned how to falsify legal documents at a seminar taught by sovereign citizen guru Tim Turner, who charges people for courses about the movement. "I'll tell people not to get involved with this guy because he's trouble," Parenteau said in his apology, the Albany Times-Union reports.

Jones locked his doors and barely cracked open his window and refused to identify himself. He told Simmons he was a "free citizen on a free highway" and provided different names. The trooper asked for identification at least 10 times.

Jones also said he did not have to provide a driver's license, and only got out of the car when Simmons threatened to arrest him and break the car window. Jones struggled when Simmons tried to handcuff him. He was later charged with "resisting arrest, obstruction of justice with force, driving without a license, having an expired inspection sticker and defective equipment," Staunton's News-Leader reports.

Simmons said he found documents relating to the sovereign citizens movement and their activities in the trunk of the car, as well as a Geiger counter, according to the News-Leader.

"Kelly claimed to be a "sovereign citizen," telling deputies he does not have to follow the law or obey law enforcement officers, deputies said. Also found in the truck was the book "The Sociopath Next Door."

According to a 2010 FBI briefing paper: "Sovereign citizens are anti-government extremists who believe that even though they physically reside in this country, they are separate or 'sovereign' from the United States. As a result, they believe they don't have to answer to any government authority, including courts, taxing entities, motor vehicle departments or law enforcement."

Kelly initially was booked on charges of fleeing police, aggravated assault and weapons violations and was given a $32,000 bond. Kelly posted the bond Monday morning and was released, but he was rearrested that afternoon on new charges of firing at a building, firing from a vehicle and criminal mischief."

"42 year-old Larry Wayne Kelly allegedly fired upon the L&T Seafood Market with an AK-47 from the window of his pickup truck, after he was told they had sold out of crawfish on Sunday."

"When law enforcement tracked him down and tried to arrest him on foot, Kelly allegedly attempted to hit them with his car.

According to the Sheriffs Department, four loaded guns were found in Kelly's car, including a 12-gauge shotgun, a pistol, and a revolver. The book "The Sociopath Next Door" was also found. Kelly told law enforcement that he is a sovereign citizen (someone who believes that almost all forms of government in the U.S. are illegitimate), and that he doesn't have to follow the law."
