HBO is waaaayyyyyy overpriced. I found that I wasn't even watching a movie from the regular $12.99 movie channels but twice a month at the most. That works out to an expensive movie. Have patience. HBO stuff eventually filters down to the other channels.

I know, I just hate the need to be "patient." I'm the child who had to search the house to find (and unwrap if necessary) my Christmas gifts. When it comes to my favorite TV shows, my "Favorites" has a file so I click on the link to appropriate spoiler site. The only place I've learned some patience is when it comes to my favorite books -- mysteries and thrillers -- but that's mostly because I listen to the audio versions and it's a pain to find the right part to skip to to here the ending.

As it is, I don't have cable etc. I have just the basic broadcast TV. I love that many, if not most of the shows I want to see, I can catch on the internet for free. I am in the process of setting up my TV so that I can stream shows directly from Netflix of Hulu Plus. I've been dragging my feet partly because I spend way too much time as it is on the computer. Thank doG, I'm retired and don't have a job or any place that I HAVE to go to.

I have DirecTv and I don't even have the local channels in my channel guide. IMO network TV broadcasts nothing but junk. Notice I haven't watched Faux News either.

Ha! Just realized the other day that we have an upgraded package with HBO for a trial! Told son and he scrolled through the channels and found the BBC and said he has a new favorite. :D

Then today it dawns on me that we can watch "Game Change"! We listened to the audio book on a long car trip soon after it came out, so this will be fun. Told TIVO to recognize HBO and will set it up to record when it is in the menu. :D Good timing. The package with HBO is an extra $40, no way I would pay for it - there's already more on TIVO than I can watch already.

Part of the reason I dropped cable was to cut back time I mindlessly watch TV. Now I only watch a handful of network shows that I enjoy watching like NCIS. I've loved fairy tales for years -- especial the history and hidden meaning behind them (as well as nursery rhymes and folklore). I had to tune into "Once Upon a Time" on ABC and I'm hooked. It's a guilty pleasure.

I'm dropping HBO after Game Change. I'd drop Showtime, but I can't give up Dexter. Hell, I'd like to go back to basic cable but then I couldn't see my favorite anchorman and Burn Notice.

I love Dexter -- which really surprised me because I thought the whole premise behind the show would put me off. I only decided to rent the DVD for the show because there was so much positive talk about the show. I'm glad I did. This has to be one of the best written show. And, except for the whole killing thing -- blood stains are such a pain to get out, I could identify with Dexter in some ways. I doubt that I am the only person who has felt like Dexter -- that we are somehow different from everyone else, that it feels like we are the only ones "acting" our way through life.

I have to have HBO because I loves me some Bill Maher! :xo

Also I need direct tv because I mainly watch MSNBC. The only network tv I watch is Survivor and The Big Bang Theory, which I believe to be comic genius.

And I already have Game Change marked on my calendar.

One of the major reasons I'm planning on getting Netflix is to watch Dexter whenever I want. I thought Season 4 with the Trinity Killer" was some of the best TV ever. I hated the wait until I could watch season 5. I did start a new threat titled "TV" and I moved my last comments on Dexter ther so that the mods won't do something awful to me like take away my birthday. (They can take the years, just leave the birthday and cake -- lots of cake.) :o :o :yikes: :yikes:

It's no wonder that obots love HBO so much, with that commie Maher. I cannot believe the birthers haven't noticed yet:

HBO = anagram for BHO!

How could that be a coincidence?!

Funny you should say that -- my first exposure to him was around 1980 when he was a stand-up comic and appeared occasionally on "Dial-a-Joke." What first attracted my attention was a risqué bit he had about -- of all things -- Aer Lingus.

We need a "Dexter" thread.

Regarding Game Change. It may be available at Amazon on Demand pretty quickly after airing. Sometimes HBO takes their time releasing content to Amazon; sometimes they don't. HBO would be foolish to hold back on offering Game Change for streaming through Amazon. No one is going to subscribe to HBO for one movie. A TV series? Yes. A 2 hour movie? No.

HBO has removed their content from Nexflix streaming. Netflix used to stream several of HBO's series, but HBO wants more money now, and Netflix won't pay what HBO wants. Even though Netflix had it biggest quarter in Netflix history after they raised their prices and separated streaming and DVD rentals.

There will be places to watch Game Change for free once the show airs. PM me for details.

If I could stream HBO through my Roku, I would be willing to pay $10 per month for it. Those who have HBO as part of a cable package can stream HBO to their Roku and other internet devices. But I wish HBO would let folks purchase the channel individually for web streaming. They and Showtime would increase their earnings significantly if they did so.

Sorry, friends and lovers. :) I guess I have become a lurker. It's not by design. I've been absolutely swamped with work. And I have a girlfriend. My leisurely websurfing time has been dramatically curtailed. But I miss y'all and am checking in now and then!

Sorry about having so much work, but the girlfriend is good news! Have fun! :D

2. Does she have wings? :-

You bastards know way too much about me!

Nothing wrong with her at all. Hot, smart, perfect. (She doesn't speak French though. Took me some time to get over that. Also, she initially told me she merely "leans Republican" but eventually confessed that not only did she vote for McCain-Palin but also for W. Unfortunately many of the cute ones in Arizona tend to be this way, argh!)
