Dummett was on some right-of-tea-baggers radio show yesterday. He's not quite the human cartoon character that Orly is, but he gets close. He considers himself a constitutional scholar because he took a class on constitutional law as an undergraduate 35 years ago. He and the hosts spent an awful lot of time lamenting that "kids today" are not taught about the Constitution. One of the hosts said that, while it is not widely known, the 14th amendment was not ratified by all the states. People mistakenly believe that every state is bound by it, but actually the states that did not ratify it should not have to obey it. :-? He asked Dummett what he would do to fix the 14th amendment. Dummett's response: The income tax was instated to fund WWII and was never meant to be a permanent part of government revenue. He favors a flat tax. ](*,)

Oh, and while he is in favor of medical marijuana, he is concerned because he knows for a fact that some people who claim to be using it for medical reasons are actually using it recreationally. :-bd And he really disagrees with Obama's recent executive order that grants US citizenship to everyone in the US on a student visa. :^o

When I hear such profoundly stupid people talking as if they are experts on a topic they clearly know almost nothing about, I am always reminded of a conversation I overheard my nieces having when they were in kindergarten. They were pretending to be princesses and got into a rather heated discussion about whether princesses have to go to school. The conversation among the people on this radio show was equally silly but nowhere near as cute.

Well yeah, that's a good answer. I was expecting something along the lines of "people in states that didn't ratify the 16th Amendment are exempt from federal income taxes."

But more to the point, doesn't Dummett know that the 16th was never properly ratified and is thus null and void? I mean, what kind of Konstitushunalist is he?

Dummett was on some teabagger blogtalk show with hosts that were dumber-than-dirt, crazy Paulistas. He told the story of how it is that he has a daughter who is also his daughter-in-law. Turns out, it is neither a cute nor a long story.

His son got his girlfriend pregnant when he was 15. The girlfriend must have been a ward of the state at the time. He claims that "the state" wanted her to have an abortion or give the baby up for adoption. To avoid either of these circumstances, Dummett and his wife adopted his son's pregnant girlfriend. The sequence of events wasn't clear but the son eventually married his girlfriend/adopted sister. :-?

It sounds like he would fit right in with the Palin family.

Actually it sounds like bullshit to me. Especially this part.

Something tells me this is not the whole story, or the real story. I don't doubt someone probably advised her those were two options, and keeping her baby too. But something's missing. What is a "ward of the state" anymore? A child in foster care, no? Who were the foster parents when this pregnancy happened? It wasn't by any chance the Doomays?

These people lie as easily as they breathe, why would this story be any different?

Dummett didn't use the term "ward of the state." I inferred that from the fact that the girl obviously didn't have parents who wanted her since Dummett was able to adopt her and from the fact that he claimed that "the state" didn't want her to keep the baby. The latter claims sounds like bullshit to me, but "the state" might just be some social worker who tried to talk her out of keeping the baby.

He predicted that Obama will get less than 30% of the vote in the fall since he won't be on the ballot in Arizona, where Dummett is sure his lawsuit will succeed [-( , and because Obama likely won't be on the ballot in Indiana, where Dummett has filed an objection against Romney and Obama and says he has been hearing very positive things from the Secretary of State. He also thinks that his lawsuit in California will succeed, but he seems to think the has has sued the RNC and the DNC as well as the SoS, so he might not fully understand that lawsuit.

So Dummett took in a scared, pregnant girl, adopted her, cared for her and all you ppl can do is pretend how weird and awful it is.

I say he is a great person for doing what he did.

I never said nor implied that it was awful. What I implied was weird is that his son is married to his adopted sister. That is weird.

"You people" does not work in describing the people of The Fogbow. They are both more complex and more varied than you seem to know.

That situation isn't as Deliverance-y as it sounds. I personally know three families in which the daughter is also a daughter in law, including my own in-laws, whose single parents married each other after my in-laws married.

I worked for a widower with a daughter who married a widow with a son. Yup, several years later they became their own in-laws.

If I know this many, there must be many, many more.

Dummet is strange, but not necessarily his situation. Just sayin.

We all pretty much agree that Dummet is a Dummy. They did get married...they "did the right thing" even though it sounds strange, there is no issue what so ever. I am my own GrandPa...(Tom Arnold's Stupid Movie The Stupids)

I cannot find any fault with this. Now the rest of the Dummy package is another issue. Most folks here seem to be very pragmatic. Some have even found some "good" points about Orly (she's determined...ya gotta give her that). =)) =)) =))

Your 15 year old son impregnates a minor girl who has no parents and the State of California, the County, or whoever has custody of her lets her go live with you let alone lets you adopt her? Nuh Uh. I call Bullshit. I don't think it could have happened the way he tells it.

Why would you believe Doomay when he lies to try to keep the President off the ballot? You don't think he's spun the story to make himself look like a nice guy? I don't think it looks nice at all. And I don't pretend it's weird. I say it's weird. And creepy because my birther bullshit detector is telling me things may have not happened in the order in which Doomay tells it.

I pretty much take the tact that He doesn't matter. He isn't even a minor ripple in the toilet of the right wing.

I'm sure adoption agencies always allow girls to be adopted into the household where the know the boy who impregnated her lives. :-? :-k

Curious that Dumdum only refers to the girl as a "minor." We know the son was 15; for all we know she could have been 12.

Maybe they just took her in, and called her adopted so the neighbors wouldn't think Dumkid knocked up and moved in his child bride.

Extra-creepy!
