I am imagining a scene where Rudy is transported to heaven, is met by Mohammed at the gate and he says "Mr. Davis, Allah wishes to see you." =))

If this heaven/hell stuff is real  , I can assure Rudy he will spend eternity with Orly, Phil Berg, Sharon Rondeau, Walt Fitzpatrick, Dr. Hate, No Neck Nancy, Tracy Dorsey Fair Dorsey, Joey Farah, Jerry Corsi, Leonard McCauley, Mario Apuzzo, James David Manning, etc. and it's gonna be HOT. Yes, Rudy, you will be surrounded by like thinkers, but that will be the least of your problems.

May I suggest a slight modification? transported to heaven, is met by St. Peter at the gate and he says "Mr. Davis, Allah wishes to see you."

I chose not to watch the whole video when I saw where it appeared to be going. I had a previous job that called for some understanding of the Muslim religious tradition. And my understanding is that when translated into English, the Qu'ran is not considered sacred; rather, it is a sacred object only when written in Arabic. So if I correctly guess Davis's intent, he failed to achieve it (probably due ignorance).

I'm not sure about it's "sacredness" but it has been said that the Qu'ran is only the Qu'ran when it's written in Arabic. I believe this has a much to do with how effectively the message is communicated than anything else (it's a little bit like The Divine Comedy - it loses a lot in it's translation from Italian to other languages).

If you haven't seen this short talk on reading the Qu'ran, you might find it interesting:

Thanks for the link. What surprise for me, as just last night I happened to look at the YT clip, which goes into some specifics of Qur'an translation:

Muslim friends have told me that anything containing a passage from the Qur'an -- even a program pamphlet quoting part of a sura -- is accorded some degree of respect and can be defiled by such things as bringing it near food. It does not have to be in Arabic to be accorded this respect. Perhaps different schools are in play here.

What a fucking moron this guy is!

I’ve never heard of him before or seen anything else he’s done or written, (if he even can write). But if this is any representation he’s not worth the waste of time.

Yeah I debated him until he blocked me. The guy is a lowlife scumbag. He believes in chemtrails, succession, Lakin is a hero, etc. This idiot was making fun of lakin's replacement's wife because she miscarried from the stress of her husband being shipped overseas unexpectedly. He was making fun of this poor woman. "Lakin was the victim everyone else isn't." He's a dirtbag

It is also my understandings that the message was delivered to Mohammand in a poetic style that he, an illiterate caravan mover was not able to speak. The message was dictated to Christians to record in a written form. It would make sense that the writing would use forms of words familiar to literate Christians of that area and period.

What Rudy and others Islamophobes who would desecrate the Qur'an is that much of the Bible is included within it. He really can desecrate one without desecrating the other. Islam was an updated version of the Bible.

The large version I have is bi-lingual Arabic/English with extensive footnotes giving the history and cultural context of the passages. Very interesting stuff.

It reminds me of the time my very Catholic sister-in-law was trying to convince herself that it wasn't such a catastrophe that her son was marrying a Protestant. "After all," she said, "Protestantism is just an offshoot of Catholicism."

To which I replied -- or possibly only wish I had replied -- "Sure, just like Christianity is an offshoot of Judaism."

Close.

Islam started as a heretical Christian cult... along the lines of the Nestorians or Marianites. Muhammad accepted Jesus as the Messiah, accepted his virgin birth, and believed in his second coming at the Ends of Days. But he rejected Christ's divinity, just as many of the Gnostics did... and as some groups like the Jehovah's Witnesses do today. Muhammad's break with the other Abrahamic faiths came when he was shocked to discover they would not accept him as a prophet along the lines of Moses (or Jesus). We can mark the formal break at about the time he changed the qibla (the direction Muslims pray) from Jerusalem to Mecca in February of 624.

Christianity is a syncretic faith, combining some of the features of Judaism with the Hellenistic paganism of the "mystery cults." In the same way, Islam is a syncretic faith combining some of the features of Judaism and Christianity with Arab paganism. Almost of of Islamic ritual is from pre-Islamic Arab paganism, to include everything associated with the Haj... and of course their belief in Djin.

The Qur'an, though, is not even vaguely Bible-like. It is for starters a very small book, and sorted in nothing vaguely resembling the chronological order of its "revelation." It is also essentially a single unified work of a single author (more or less... substantive modifications were minimal). It is very light on history, and cannot even be depended on to teach you how to be a good Muslim since very little shar'ia derives from it at all. The five pillars of Islam for example are almost completely missing in it.

The explanation offered in the video clip, as by the presentation of the speaker lady, about grapes makes so much more sense than virgins as it was directed to a people living in an arid landscape.

Banjo music - what a rip off of old mountain (Hillbilly) traditions. These people are nothing but despicable.

Rudy haz a mad at Fox for the Jean Claude Tremblay article. Plus, he wants people to harass Tremblay into making a YouTube video about his opinion on the .pdf file. (You have to first get by the "maybe next I'll put a Quran in a pig's head, beat it with sandals, set it on fire and piss on it" rant.)

Also, you can tell he's on the edge of another explosion.

He should be checked for Lyme disease. Some of the symptoms are frequent urination, confusion, and rage.

Rudy mentions Gov. Goodhair right before he loses his train of thought (preparation, much, Rudy?), and never gets back to him. It'd be great if Rudy became the face of the Rick Perry for President campaign. \:D/
