Bachmann lauds military for Awlaki killing, leaves out Obama

Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.) lauded the U.S. military — but not its commander in chief —for killing American-born cleric and al Qaeda operative Anwar al-Awlaki in a drone strike in Yemen.

"The United States military and our intelligence community have demonstrated again why they are the best in the world," Bachmann said in a statement Friday. "With the greatest of skill, they successfully took out Anwar al-Awlaki, an al-Qaeda leader known for recruiting terrorists who would carry out deadly plots against innocent Americans."

Awlaki's assassination has drawn both scrutiny and praise from the GOP presidential candidates. Rick Perry, Mitt Romney and Newt Gingrich congratulated Obama and commended the decision to take out Awlaki. But Ron Paul and Gary Johnson were critical of the killing of an American citizen who hadn't been convicted of any crimes.

You have to pre-register with phone number and your name.

Quote:
The "horrific" sexual abuse scandal that has [convulsed?] Penn State University should lead to a national discussion about the issue but should be addressed at the state level rather than federal, Republican presidential candidate Michele Bachmann says.

"I think my automatic reaction would be, even though I'm a small woman, I'd want to go find that guy and beat him to a pulp," the Minnesota congresswoman said today on NBC’s “Meet the Press.” "I think that's what any parent would want to do.''

The investigation of rape allegations against former Penn State football defensive coordinator Jerry Sandusky is a state matter that should stay at the state level, Bachmann said.

OK, it's a state matter.

Bachmann compared U.S to China.

Quote:
Why do the Republicans hate America for being America? During the Republican Debate on Saturday night, Michele Bachmann said that America should be more like China. In order to do this, Bachmann says we should get rid of our social safety net system. This system includes Social Security, food stamps, Medicare, Medicaid, and other anti-poverty programs that help Americans across the country.

Bachmann stated that Lyndon Johnson’s Great Society has “not worked, and it’s put us into the modern welfare state…If you look at China, they don’t have food stamps. They save for their own retirement security, they don’t have AFDC (Aid to Families With Dependent Children), they don’t have the modern welfare state, and China’s growing…and so what I would do is look at the programs that LBJ gave us, with the Great Society, and they’d be gone.”

Even for Bachmann, this is just amazing.

Sure, it stands to reason right-wing candidate would call for the destruction of “the modern welfare state”; that’s become a rather standard part of any far-right ideology. But once a President Bachmann takes a sledgehammer to the Great Society, what does she want to replace it with? A Chinese model.

Bachmann considers programs like Medicare to be “socialist,” which she thinks is bad, and looks longingly at Chinese communism, which she thinks is good.

I think all the pigs want us to be more like Communist China. Most of them are just not stupid enough actually to say it that way. They want a society of serfs paid subsistence wages with no healthcare, and if anyone complains, run them over with a tank or execute them and sell their organs to wealthy Westerners.

The truth of the matter is that these nutjobs want us to be like Germany was in the 1930s. The only problem is they know so little of history that they don't even know how Germany was in the 1930s.

What are they going to do when they realize the MICROFICHE isn't a secure document like the President's short and long form BCs? It is the short form that is the ticket to entitlements since it is self-validating.

Where are they going to move the goalpost to next????

I just love Michele's history lessons. They're almost as amazing and amusing as Glenn Beck's.

So why should it matter that AFDC was a New Deal program going back to 1935, not an LBJ Great Society program?

More to the point, it already is gone. Replacing AFDC with TANF (Temporary Assistance for Needy Families) was the cornerstone of the welfare reforms signed by Clinton in 1996.

But that's OK, Michele, go ahead and get rid of it again if that's how you get your jollies.

Bat. Shit. Crazy.

Bachmann: Federal Government Could Force A One-Child Policy

Quote:
Michele Bachmann argued last night that the Obama administration could institute a one-child policy under the Affordable Care Act. Appearing on Glenn Beck’s online television show Real News From The Blaze, Bachmann launched into a long monologue on why she thinks the health care reform law could negatively impact women and explained that “the federal government will only pay for one baby to be born in the hospital per family.”

When anchor Amy Holmes pressed her on that point, she quickly backed away from singling out the Obama administration, and instead talked of a generic “health care dictator” who may institute such policies:

Quote:
BACHMANN: Women have a lot to lose under Obamacare If you want to go into specifics, what the government gives, the government can take away. It certainly isn’t beyond the pale to think, in light of Kathleen Sebelius, the Health and Human Services Secretary — she said that it’s important that we have contraceptives because that prevents pregnancy, and pregnancy is more expensive to the federal government. Going with that logic, according to our own Health and Human Services Secretary, it isn’t far-fetched to think that the President of the United States could say ‘we need to save health care expenses — the federal government will only pay for one baby to be born in the hospital per family, or two babies to be born per family.’ That could happen. We think it couldn’t?”
