Remember our old pal J. B. Williams? He has a new rant up about lawyers and the courts - all corrupt from SCOTUS, to the courts in Tennessee that won't listen to Walter, on down to traffic court (he recently got a ticket for passing on the right.)

LAWYERS AND JUDGES AT WAR WITH CONSTITUTIONAL LAW

This [lying scumbag's] claim about why Walter did nothing wrong is a hoot:
Quote:
Last week, Fitzpatrick attended a hearing on motions for new charges accusing him of tampering with and stealing official government documents. He picked up an information packet for new jurors found on a table at the court house and took it home to study jury procedures. I remind readers that every court house is the property of the people, as is every court produced document.
Monroe County SWAT hit his home with force again that night, seizing Fitzpatrick’s property and effects, arresting, brutalizing and incarcerating Fitzpatrick again.

LAWYERS AND JUDGES AT WAR WITH CONSTITUTIONAL LAW

That "article" includes the following "quote" from Thomas Jefferson. Is this another bogus quote? I can find nothing like it on any of the standard quote sites. It is suddenly popular on RWNJ Web sites, although it was quoted much earlier on some sites (or as Birthers might write, "on some cites" or "on some sights"). Apparently the word "sapper" was used as early as the 1600's.
Quote:
The judiciary of the United States is the subtle corps of sappers and miners constantly working underground to undermine our Constitution from a co-ordinate of a general and special government to a general supreme one alone. This will lay all things at their feet. … I will say, that “against this every man should raise his voice,” and, more, should uplift his arm …

I find this "quote" in an 1820 letter purported to be from Jefferson to Thomas Ritchie. http://www.yamaguchy.com/ is not the sort of Web site to which I would go for authoritative quotations. The link to "England, Vampire of the Continent" does not instill confidence.

If Jefferson wrote this in 1820, what was he thinking in 1803?

And what court was he referring to? He mentions "their five lawyers." In 1820 the Supreme Court was seven strong.

We have mocked Freedom Force before: "Freedom Force, another VERY unfortunate name choice...". Freedom Force International may be the source of a lot of the New World Order scat that permeates the RWNJ sites.

The Jefferson quote appears to be genuine:

He may have become less "orthodox" as he aged. Marbury v. Madison may not have sat well with him. I do so admire that man that I regret having seen this. Just one year before that letter, he founded the University of Virginia (at age 76).

I hope that is a preview of Walter's defense strategy that he will use in September: "All court documents are public so I was taking a document I already own." :-bd

Very remarkable but very complex man. I find it interesting that he's such a darling of the right here in the US, when I was actively involved in politics in the UK many of the older generation of the left greatly admired him.

Maybe Jefferson was referring to this Act that reduced the number of members of the Supreme Court to five even though the reduction was not achieved. Obviously he did not like the fact that Marshall himself was writing most of the opinions for the court as a change from each justice entering an opinion.

Some things have not changed since the first discussions of what powers should distributed to the states and which should remain with the federal branches.
