I have serious doubts whether Joe told the biker teabaggers from Surprise that he'd investigate anything related to their BS. He's a lot of things but he's not that stupid.

Besides... WTF is he going to investigate? He doesn't have access to any document from HI, and won't get it.

(Note: I expect a comment from Orly by noon tomorrow explaining that she has called Sheriff Joe to offer her approval and assistance. She will report that Sheriff Joe was very receptive to her suggestions and grateful for her offer of assistance. If a crime is committed against someone, aren't they the one to ask for an investigation? I can't go to the police and say "I think that xyz happened 3 years ago. You should investigate." There has to be something to spark an investigation. This ain't that something.

Of course, once Sheriff Joe receives all of the "documentation" from Corsi, he will promptly decide that there is nothing to investigate. But that decision is in itself an investigation. (See how that works, Jerry?) Reading provided documents could be defined as "an investigation". Of course, Joe will tell the birfers that "political influences" barred efforts to investigate this issue.

Sheriff Joe is too damn smart for this. He has kept the FBI and DOJ hunting after him for 3 years now.

Now, I've never known Joe to crack a smile, but he looks seriously uncomfortable standing next to birfers. Jerry looks positively radiant in picture #2.

The story has hit the Daily Kos.

The only other mentions of this article are on birther and obot blogs.

"Yeah, sure, I'll look into it" with eyes rolling... in other words, he was probably trying to be a politician... for he must know he has no authority in this. And he must know he would have no ability to discern the validity of the document.

Yay.

He wouldn't risk his credibility by telling his Facebook friends that, if it wasn't true. This isn't like all the other times that he promised something to his Facebook friends that never had a chance of coming true. This time it's REAL.

That, by itself, seems to me to be a highly unlikely depiction of the meeting. So Arpaio is presented with a petition with 242 signatures, and he says that he is "forced to investigate"? BS. He has discretion as sheriff; he's surely not "forced to investigate" the claims of every wacky petition he's given, simply because it would procedurally fall under his jurisdiction.

Assuming that the person standing at the podium lectern is speaking, then it's Corsi. It's hard to be sure given the poor video and audio.

Let's see, according to wiki (quoting the 2010 census):
