Maricopa County Sheriff's Office Lt. Justin Griffin confirmed to WND that Arpaio is "waiting to receive all the documentation and all the investigative material from Dr. Jerry Corsi, and then he will look into the matter and compare it to the Arizona revised statutes."
And just exactly what do you think the Secretary of State in '08 (JAN BREWER) will say when asked if she followed the AZ statutes?

Notice there's no quote from Arpaio in the article? But whatever, this is going to make for great CNN if they can tie both the tea party and Arpaio to the birthers. AC360 riduculist and Brooke Baldwin smirk in 3 2 1...

The petition calls for the sheriff to investigate the
possibility that a crime has been committed against the Arizona secretary of state, who must decide whether to put Obama's name on the ballot.
Arpaio told the tea party leaders
the complaint is within his jurisdiction, and he will be forced to investigate. He said he expects political pressure
I see what you did right there, WND
, but he pointed out that as the chief law enforcement officer of Maricopa County,
he's taken an oath to respond to citizens who approach him about enforcing the law.snip.....
"I think what we've seen is history created today," said Surprise tea party leader Brian Reilly.
"This is probably the first time in this country that citizens have gone to a sheriff over a national issue."This is the result of the great TP brain trust in AZ??? The AZ TP is seriously birfer. Can you imagine the sweat that was poured at meetings as the Great Arizona Tea Party Brain Trust hatched this plan? It so brilliant!! It is almost Orly'esque in its brilliance.
Speaking of Orly; she already has WND's story posted on her site:
xxxhttp://www.orlytaitzesq.com/?p=24775
(Note: I expect a comment from Orly by noon tomorrow explaining that she has called Sheriff Joe to offer her approval and assistance. She will report that Sheriff Joe was very receptive to her suggestions and grateful for her offer of assistance. By 3pm, she will have purchased a plane ticket for the meeting she thinks she has scheduled with Joe. After all, when someone says "let me poke around a bit", they really mean "please show up at my office ASAP with your 2 suitcases of
evidence".)
If a crime is committed against someone, aren't they the one to ask for an investigation? I can't go to the police and say "I think that xyz happened 3 years ago. You should investigate." There has to be something to spark an investigation. This ain't that something.
Of course, once Sheriff Joe receives all of the "documentation" from Corsi, he will promptly decide that there is nothing to investigate. But that decision is in itself an investigation. (See how that works, Jerry?) Reading provided documents could be defined as "an investigation". Of course, Joe will tell the birfers that
"political influences" barred efforts to investigate this issue.
Sheriff Joe is too damn smart for this. He has kept the FBI and DOJ hunting after him for 3 years now.
Now, I've never known Joe to crack a smile, but he looks seriously uncomfortable standing next to birfers. Jerry looks positively radiant in picture #2.
The story has hit the
Daily Kos.
The only other mentions of this article are on birther and obot blogs.
