The Eisenhower birth certificate myth debunked.

Two newspaper clippings we have from early October 1952 indicate that a New York law firm had written to the Denison City Secretary and asked if Dwight Eisenhower had a registered birth certificate. He replied that there was none on file. A local newspaper then ran a story declaring that Ike’s birth had never been recorded. Mr. Roberts than got involved and sent the letter of Sept. 3 to Mamie Eisenhower in Denver. She forwarded it to Ike’s campaign headquarters at the Commodore Hotel in NYC.

I have not seen any documents from the 1952 campaign suggesting Eisenhower was not an American-born citizen. However, the far-right did put out some nasty ads and newsletters attacking the general. Some claimed he was a Jew or a Communist sympathizer. These materials and their scrambled issues did not make it into the mainstream media.
