The Santa Ana winds appear to have died down a bit, at least until late afternoon when the sundowner winds will pick up again in the mountains. Last night it went from 100 acres to 2500 in the span of a couple of hours due to the Santa Ana. Nine, count it, nine % humidity.

Oh yeah,it’s not near us. Thanks, jb 💕 But when Santa Ana’s hit this late in the year, after (once again) no rain for months, we all pay attention. Weirdos and pyromaniacs abound around here. :?

A few years ago at this time there was a 4 day wind event that wreaked havoc along the Foothills corridor. Many cities lost power for days and our town lost its 150 year old pine at the library, the iconic Monrovia Christmas Tree.

Glad you're okay, kate! :bighug: I didn't think you were close, but I wasn't sure. I know the Santa Ana's can be awful. Besides Santa Paula, it's evidently roaring through part of Ventura too. Weather channel said will probably go all the way to the water there. :crying:

I hope Stern's sister and her family head to safety! And glad to hear Fox will not be showing on the teevee.

My neighbor next door that used to drag his teevee outside and blast Fox all evening long...is GONE...MOVED!!! So I can open the windows again and enjoy the cool fresh evening air. When we have it, that is.
Edit: I still have one neighbor that watches TV outside (Fox, 24 hours a day, it seems), I see when I pass by in my car. But he's far enough away that I can't hear it when I'm home.

My neighbors' daughter and a grandson both were evacuated last night. They spent the night at evacuation shelters. This morning they were told that the fire had burned to about 300 yards from their houses, stopping at the fire break in the wilderness park behind the homes, and the mandatory evacuation order for their neighborhood has been lifted.

 I"m glad they are safe and also that they didn't lose their homes. I'll bet they got no sleep at all last night and must have been worried sick.

Your neighbor wouldn't be allowed to do that where I live. My city's noise ordinance prohibits loud noise from 7 pm - 7am Mon-Sat and all day Sunday. 'Noise' defined as sounds coming from within a building that can be heard at the property line, or sounds from outside a building that can be heard from 50 feet away. Lawn and power tools are exempt.

Fire is not close to me but my sister and her hubby may get evacuated. If so I told them I could put them up here.
