This got some discussion in the Potporri thread, but I think it deserves its own.

http://www.birthersummit.org/

What strikes me the most about the site is how devoid of information it is.

"Summit Facts" provides no facts.

"Event Details" provides no details.

"About the Birther Summit" has a single sentence, which says that the Birther summit is a summit being held by Birthers.

Only two pages have anything at all. "Banners and Links" does have several commercial banners for the Summit, all of which say "Click Here for More Information." Somewhat false advertising, because as noted above, the site doesn't actually *have* more information.

The other functional page is, not surprisingly, the "Birther Store." The page that allows you to buy their stuff. Shocker, no?

Anyone care to make predictions? Prominent participants? Location? Number of attendees? Will this end up like Phil Berg's DC march, delayed and under-attended? Or like WND's tea party convention, delayed and cancelled?

I know. I remember in school they would tell us we need to include: Who, What, Why, When, Where and How in any report. They included nothing.

Don't you love how this "summit" has evolved?

Originally Dean Haskins proposed to Lindsey Graham that "experts" from both sides meet to explore/debate the "controversy". Now he's running a two-day birther convention that will "hammer out a unified, cohesive message" and then take to the streets for a "massive rally" and march. There's even an optional "third day" where "foot soldiers" can take their message directly to members of Congress.

Why do I think the only thing that will actually happen will be the sale of "birther summit" memorabilia junk to the few credulous morons who take this crap seriously?

A 'summit' is a meeting of the top people in the field. I don't think just common, ordinary loser birfers are invited. I think you at least have to own your own birther blog or have been one of Orly's plaintiffs.

I also think that in all honesty, the birthers for all their big talk are terrified to organize a mass gathering on the Nationable Mall in our nation's capital. After the Usurpathon and Phil's monster rally and I think there was one more epic fail by Resistnet or somebody, they're not going to announce a big protest and have fewer than a dozen birfoons show up. It would be too easy to just scoop them all into a Soylent Green truck and take them off to the FEMA camps.

Hey, I was going to say that! I see that "Summit Facts" are now up - a 3 day conference in DC:

Quote:
DAY 1 will be a “working conference” of the national leaders and spokespeople of the eligibility movement. Their names are all very well known to you, and this group will hammer out a unified, cohesive message to issue to Congress and every citizen of this country. That message will be our Declaration of Constitutional Dependence, and will address every facet of Barack Obama's constitutional ineligibility to hold the highest office in the country, and the lengths to which he has gone to hide that fact.

DAY 2 will start with a massive rally at which many of the previous day's conference attendees will address the huge crowd assembled to make our presence known to Washington and the rest of the country. The rally, with poignant messages from some of our leaders, will culminate in the reading of our Declaration of Constitutional Dependence by the one individual we all immediately recognize for the vast sacrifice he made on our country's behalf—LTC Terry Lakin. Following the rally, we will take our message to the streets in a unified march, protesting Washington's continued cover up of the fraud that has been perpetrated upon us.

DAY 3 will be the day for the Summit's attendees to deliver our message in a more personal way, by teaming up and visiting the offices of every member of Congress.

When the dates, times, and places are finalized, we will offer online registration for the event. Join our email list today, and we'll keep you informed about this exciting, historic event!

It reminds me of one of the Freeper rallies back when Dubya was still in office that they made a big deal about, but in the end there were more porta-potties there than people.

Actually, Foggy, it looks like they are. From "Summit Facts":

Howsomever, I suspicion when they get all of four "foot soldiers" to sign up, they'll just take the money they made from their birther store and the whole summity thing will go "poof"!

From the posted "Summit Facts" it looks like you're absolutely right regarding substantive participation, but Dean seems to want the hatriot horde there as well. It doesn't seem very well thought out...

I hope Dean sees this comment so that he may ponder it while he's sitting in the back of the truck... I'm guessing that he will end up wishing that he'd taken your advice.

I propose an Anti-Birther Summit.

We'll call ourselves "American Voters."

How about Nov. 6, 2012?

Be there.

A unified message addressing every facet? Uh huh. So will they have statements like, "he was born in Hawaii, Canada, Kenya and/or Indonesia"? That oughta make most everyone happy.

Looks to me to be more of a blank page.

Declaration of Constitutional Dependence... who makes this shit up?

Sounds much like the Articles of (Freedom??)... whatever... from KKK2009.

They could invite Andy Martin to do the sidewalk press conference and organize a boycott of Hawaii. =))

This has been tried before. After a half day being detained by the Secret Service and a group photo in front of the District Court, the merry little band led by Bubba Swensson paired off and visited Congressional offices. Where's that video of Dr. "Duct Tape" Penny dropping off a package of reading materials only to catch the Congressman's receptionist deposit it in a wastebasket?

This just made me think of a parody song called "Birfin' USA" based on the Beach Boys song. Then I couldn't think of a damn thing to put in it. Anyone can steal the idea, though, and run with it.
