Game of Thrones political parody ads: birthers, terrorists in Westeros

"SAN DIEGO, June 21, 2012 – The War for the Iron Throne on the smash HBO hit series Game of Thrones isn’t unlike the war currently underway for the office of President of the United States. So it was only a matter of time until some clever people had fun imagining of Game of Thrones as a modern American political campaign, complete with classic negative campaign political attack ads. Cue the ominous music, distorted photos and lurid claims.

Who could have predicted this wicked funny trio of parody ads would come from people at the respected left-leaning political magazine Mother Jones? Yes, and they have their bases covered from both sides of the political aisle. Birther issues? Check. Aiding and abetting terrorists? Check. Climate change? Check. Employing illegal aliens? Check. Breaking promises made in previous campaigns? Check."

Birther: See?! A foreign newspaper once said that Obama was born in Kenya! That's evidence that he WAS! And that they know something that the American media refuses to admit. And what's the most these papers ever do when they're caught? They claim they made a "mistake." Like that literary agent; but that wasn't a mistake, because someone must have TOLD her that.

Me: *ahem*

Exactly! There's no way she could have believed that Barack Hussein Obama was born in Kenya unless she read it somewhere. I wonder where she could have read that

Barack
Hussein
Obama

was born in kenya?

Kellie Greene is also a birther:

Quote:
Sometimes the media taking a powder on covering things is a blessing for a candidate. Yesterday's appearance on the HOTLINE of Congressional candidate Kellie Greene got only blogger coverage, so her affirmation for the notion the President was not born in the USA was lost on most voters.

While that bit of birther red meat may entice some GOP primary voters, it's a widely discredited viewpoint and makes Ms. Greene's prospects dubious if she were to pull off an upset next Tuesday over likely nominee Matt Doheny.

The birther line was in response to a question I posed to both candidates this week. "Do you think President Obama was born in this country?" Doheny said yes and Greene said no.

Elsewhere:

Quote:
Ms. Greene says that it took too long for Mr. Obama to produce his birth certificate. [snip]

"I really have some serious questions," Ms. Greene said on Mayor Jeff Graham's noontime talk show today.

The Globe certainly could have made this up.

But Obama WILL NOT submit a paper LFBC to a court of law, civilian nor military.

I submit it is because he knows what will happen if he gives them a forged document, as we have all already have seen on more than one occasion.

And if he gives them what is real, whatever that may be, it becomes publicly accessible; and there’s something he doesn’t want folks to see. And then the Obama myth comes crashing down like a lead balloon.

OR Hawaii can’t actually produce a paper LFBC to a court of law.

There are no other possibilities.

I haven't seen it myself, but Futurama had a new episode last night: Decision 3012

Quote:
But even the struggle isn’t really what “Decision 3012” is about. The episode uses the election to get some fun jabs in at Sarah Palin, debates, and, most importantly, Birthers. Once Leela takes over Senator Chris Travers’ campaign, the candidate begins to rise in the polls, and Nixon (teaming up with Bender) decides he has to find some mud to sling...When Nixon realizes that Chris’s middle name is “Zxar,” he decides the best way to smear his opponent is to demand Travers produce an Earth certificate to prove he’s truly human. Bender will then deny the certificate’s veracity, putting Travers in the impossible position of proving the truth to someone who has no set conditions for ever accepting that truth.

More spoilers at the link.

And I think I'm going to steal the "Earth certificate" line.

I've been wondering if I should feel insulted. Mario insults people who demolish his arguments, which makes me think they are brilliant.

NBC has announced that Ann Curry is no longer host of The Today Show, and sources say that her replacement will be Savannah Guthrie.

So please let me know when Birthers start suggesting that Guthrie got this promotion from NBC due to her Obama-loyal reporting on the birth certificate last year (in the same way that they said NBC bribed Donald Trump to drop Birtherism last spring by renewing The Apprentice).

Ms. Guthrie's promotion must've been Soros-approved. No other explanation.

Oh, there's plenty for the birthers to chew on.

1. Savannah Guthrie was born in Melbourne, Australia and moved to Tucson, Ariz.at age two." So she's not a natural born citizen. Is she even a legal immigrant????!!???
2. Guthrie is terrified of frogs. Could her fear of frogs marching be her motivation for helping hide news???!!??
3. She's gone from legal analyst in 2007 to reporting on Sarah Palin in the 2008 campaign to White House Correspondant (after the election in 2008) to host of the third hour of Today to NBC News's Chief Legal Analyst (promoted on May 25, 2011... hmmmmm....), all in only 5 years. What does she know that everyone is terrified about???!?!?!!?

Plus she's whip smart. That proves she's in on all the coverups. She's not one of us.
