Meh. Savage has been beating the "Who's Obama?" drum since he announced the first time. Although he often crows about how highly educated he is, he is the laziest Ph.D. I've ever encountered. More than a few times he's gone off half-cocked on something he read or heard without fully researching it. And when he's proven wrong, he doesn't admit it, as he alleges in this recording, he simply drops the subject as though he never brought it up in the first place.

It will take only one State to keep Obama off the ballot and he is finished and the democratic convention will be brokered.

You're in luck there, DuMay. I'm sure that sometime in the near future, Orly would be more than happy for you to come to Mississippi and take credit, not only for your great ideas, but for what she's done and said in that case. Just wait a bit, and give her a ringy-dingy, know what I mean?

If you’re not getting confused by the twists and turns of birtherism, you haven’t been paying attention. Last week, Breitbart.com made a huge deal of a pamphlet that was released in 1991, listing Kenya as Barack Obama’s birthplace. It turns out that it was a simple error, but still, for the right, it’s huge news and if the media doesn’t cover it, it’s proof that we are in the pocket of the President. Rush Limbaugh, however, chose to take a different twist on the story. According to him, it wasn’t a simple error at all. Obama pretended that he was born in Kenya (yes, you have that right), so he could take advantage of affirmative action programs that are allegedly offered to people from Africa.


It’s accepted that he was born in Hawaii. So the question is, how did this happen? And that’s what a lot of people are trying to figure out. Why in the world would the blurb say he was born in Kenya when he wasn’t? No, Dawn, it’s not because he was. He wasn’t born in Kenya. There has to be a reason for this. You know what I think it is? The same thing Elizabeth Warren’s trying to do. I think this is why we’re not seeing grade transcripts. I think there’s a whole lot of affirmative action going on here with Obama. I don’t think they want us to see the courses that he took. Not so much what his grades were, but I don’t think they want us to see the courses the guy took. They don’t want us to see what he wrote. They don’t want us to see what courses he took. It’s not so much the grades, but this business of saying and telling his literary agent — ’cause this was up for years, it was not just up for a short period of time. It’s just an effort to make himself sound more exotic. And what it really indicates is that the guy will lie. He will exaggerate.

So why are they going from implying that the President wasn’t born in the United States to implying that he’s the one that started the whole conspiracy? Because it doesn’t matter. The issue has never been about the President’s eligibility to serve, that has never been truly in question; it’s about painting him as “exotic” (a commonly used word) and as an “other.” As long as a large enough percentage of the population thinks of Obama as someone who simply doesn’t belong, they can create fear among the electorate. If they can scare the voters into believing that the President is an enemy intruder who is occupying the White House, it’ll make the right’s job of stealing from the poor and middle class and giving to the rich that much easier.

This reminds me of the people who think God hid dinosaur bones under the ground to fool us into thinking dinosaurs were real, and hid early humanoid bones in Africa to fool us into believing in evolution.
