No... the one who used to ask PUMA's to do "prowls". jbjd wanted a "prowl" to get the info for her idea, but I don't think it ever came to be. PUMA PAC woman or something.

MURPHY! That's her name. (I think that's the name. If not... darn close.)

Darragh Murphy, founder of Puma PAC.

What's a "prowl" supposed to be?

PUMA P.A.C. is now on a "prowl" trying to protect what remains in the Health Care Reform bill of a woman's right to choose. It is still pro-Hillary and anti-Obama. A mixed bag.

I thought y'all might enjoy a little blast from the past:

Quote:
Last spring, I taught high school physics in Boston. When we discussed the electromagnetic spectrum, I incorporated a civics lesson. I summarized the regulatory process of the buying and selling of public airwaves; and pointed out the relationship between media-related commerce and the continued failure or success of our democracy. That is, whoever controls the flow of information controls the vote. I used the current primary as evidence of the dangers of conglomeration to a well-informed electorate. Finally, I rallied my students to become involved in their democracy warning ‘if you do not take control of your life, someone else, with interests different from yours, will control your life for you.’ (And I assured them that they were as capable of starting their own telecommunications empire as General Electric.)

I have taught as a substitute teacher at this inner-city high school for years; my freshmen are now seniors. This morning, my students were ecstatic. As always, I refused to tell them for whom I voted. As usual, they mistakenly inferred this meant, I must have voted for McCain. Of course, I did; but I never disclose my vote. This is not my role as a teacher.

Instead, when they proclaimed, “We have a black President,” I merely taught them, “No, we don’t; we have a black President-elect.” Then I explained the electoral college. And I pointed out that, the electors are free to vote for whomever they want. The general election only tells them the preferences of the voters in their state.

I managed to bite my tongue, even when one student called John McCain a loser. Oh, I did explain that, he was a war hero; and that calling him a loser speaks more about the student than the man. But I wanted to scream at his insolence.

Then, this student said John McCain was a loser because he picked that stupid woman for his running mate. Now, I pointed out that, on paper, Governor Palin is more qualified to be President than Senator Obama. And, based on this obvious superiority of qualifications, I told the student, he sounded misogynistic. I also suggested, perhaps, he was making fun of her accent. He countered with this question: if she isn’t stupid then, how come everyone thinks she is? This was my opening.

I explained that, given the same information, people often reach the same conclusions. And, this is to be expected. I told the class how sites on the internet containing information contrary to the common view were scrubbed as soon as they were discovered. I reported the treasure trove that was Google 2001. I know that, some of them heard me.

These students, seniors, are heading to college. They are among our best and brightest. But they haven’t a clue about how their government works; or doesn’t. And it would appear that, at this point, they don’t care.

This is a great ‘talking points memo.’ Will discuss this with my history class today. Taught a senior class yesterday. The students were ecstatic that BO had won. Listened in on their discussion. One student thought BO was from KS. ‘No,’ the other corrected her. ‘He’s from HI.’ ‘No, he isn’t; he was born in Kenya.’ Now I interrupted. ‘If he was born in Kenya then, given his mother’s age at his birth, she was unable to pass on her citizenship to him and so, he is not a natural born citizen and thus is ineligible to be POTUS.’ You should have seen the look of shock on their faces.

As always, I disclose these truths about BO in a calm even tone. Breaking a young person out of a kool-aid induced stupor is serious work.

Obama is covered by revisions in the citizenship law passed in 1994:

Jbjd, you firmly believe that it is your role to indoctrinate students. Your "Out of the Mouths of Babes" post made it very evident that you are completely supportive of student indoctrination as long as such indoctrination agrees with your beliefs.

Instead, when they proclaimed, “We have a black President,” I merely taught them, “No, we don’t; we have a black President-elect.” Then I explained the electoral college. And I pointed out that, the electors are free to vote for whomever they want. The general election only tells them the preferences of the voters in their state.

My first thought when I read this was, well done. We agree! And we do. Unfortunately, in your OOTMOBs post, you purposely mislead your 9th graders about the electoral college voters.

I managed to bite my tongue, even when one student called John McCain a loser. Oh, I did explain that, he was a war hero; and that calling him a loser speaks more about the student than the man. But I wanted to scream at his insolence.

Gee, in America, I thought people (even high-schoolers, had a right to their opinions. Insolence? Get a grip. Your student voiced an opinion. He just didn't share your opinion. How dare he!!!

It's agenda time!

I sure hope you presented them with facts to support your belief that the internet was scrubbed by Goggle.

These students, seniors, are heading to college. They are among our best and brightest. But they haven’t a clue about how their government works; or doesn’t. And it would appear that, at this point, they don’t care.

Let me put your mind at rest. These best and brightest often become very interested in politics and government when they reach college. I wish they had a firmer foundation in government before the got to college, but when you don't get to vote, you don't really pay attention. Once these students begin to vote, they start having great discussions about life, politics, and relationships. I love it when I walk by a group of students sitting at a table talking about their deep thoughts. I remember being one of those students. So, don't despair. These kids catch up.

What do I despair about? Folks who use their teaching position as a bully pulpit.

OK jbjd, I was thinking of writing a parody of all this. I am reasonably sure the only possible way to top this one is by claiming I taught an auto shop class and managed to sneak in a lesson on the fine legal minds at Pidgeon and Donofrio.

You know, my best friend had me proof an essay for her bioethics course last year. Her topic turned out to be abortion, which I have very strong opinions on for extremely personal reasons. And I found out that my best friend, whom I have never discussed this with, actually was arguing the complete opposite of what I believed. I remember reader her paper and thinking "wow, she really knows how to make some good points here." I wasn't her teacher, but she asked me to help her with her essay, not debate her. So that's what I did.

Jbjd seems to think that in order to develop critical thinking skills, one has to agree with her personal beliefs. If this is so, then I truly pity her students. For all her lamentations on how her students seem disinterested in politics, if her political activities in the classroom even remotely resemble her claims, her students are ill served by them.

So far she says she subs for history, math and physics?! I doubt that.

It may be worse than you think. With a Google search for Substitute Teacher, I came up with this ad for a "Highly Qualified" person in Litchfield Park, AZ, Public Schools:

Qualifications:
Valid Arizona Substitute Certificate and Fingerprint Clearance Card.
Performance Responsibilities
Reports to the building principal (school secretary) upon arrival at the school building.
Reviews with the principal, department head, or team leader all plans and schedules to be followed during the teaching day.
Maintains as fully as possible the established routines and procedures of the school and classroom to which he/she is assigned.
Teaches the lesson outlined and described in the Substitute Teacher's Guide as prepared by the absent teacher.
Consults with the building principal (department head, team leader) before initiating any teaching or other procedures not specified in the Substitute Teacher's Guide.
    ...
    Returns keys.
Not a word is said about discipline. Perhaps they are seeking many Substitute Teachers in many fields, so this might work out well. With only 879 pupils, however, they may not be able to engage too many teachers.

jbjd might wish to note the emphasized sentence.

I have to say that I think jbjd has some great lesson plan material here. It's just not where she thinks it is.

And please allow me to thank my American Government teacher for his ability to argue any point you'd like from a dispassionate position. I just rediscovered him retired over in Garibaldi, OR.

People, you cannot imagine how many classrooms are filled with books about Barack Obama (the brand that is, not the real person). One book has the sub-title, “From Kansas to Kenya.” (As far as I know, BO never lived in KS.) Part of the book described BO in church listening to the voice of God saying, ‘What’s your hurry (to change the world)?’ I cannot wait until he is ‘outed’ and the books come out outlining the fraud, which was right under our noses, all along
(my bold)

Right Jbjd, and he never lived in Kenya either. I know his relatives lived in Kansas (and Kenya), but does the book you mentioned say he lived in Kansas or Kanya?

If not, what's your point?

http://citizenwells.wordpress.com/2010/ ... /#comments.

Oh but hey, here once again is Jbjd standing apart from the crowd on her own blog site:

http://jbjd.wordpress.com/2009/12/31/th ... e-deserve/

Quote:
A few days ago, I received an email announcing that the work of the group meeting under the banner CONTINENTAL CONGRESS OF 2009 had been completed...

The preamble to the email and jbjd's initial response:

Quote:
HERE IS WHERE THE RUBBER MEETS THE ROAD. PLEASE REMEMBER THE FINE YOUNG SOLDIERS THAT HAVE GIVEN THEIR LIVES OVER THE YEARS FOR OUR FREEDOM. DON’T GIVE OUR COUNTRY AWAY HERE AT HOME. THEY HAVE GIVEN THEIR LIVES….WHAT WILL YOU GIVE????

This was followed by a few quotes – for example, Patrick Henry’s “give me liberty or give me death” – apparently aimed at eliciting my enlistment in this campaign by inciting a patriotic fervor.

After many other words jbjd says :

Quote:
...Attempting to conflate in the minds of the People, the inception and function of the present day CCongress with its illustrious namesake evidences either an odious display of hubris or a woefully inadequate knowledge and understanding of American History. At least in terms of democratic representation and results, this current iteration of CCongress bears little resemblance to that First CCongress in 1774

Jbjd, where are you up to with all this, really? One day you're hanging out in a 'community' (CW) where the most overt demonstrations of really overt (and more subtle) racism are not only tolerated but applauded: where the most abject misunderstandings about the Constitution, history and the law run riot.

I know you're a true birther, in that you don't believe Obama was born in Hawaii, but you have chosen a different path to try and get rid of him to just about everyone you've been palling around with. You're still palling around with them though.

How do you stand them? How do you stand yourself?
Edit: jbjd's comments have sparked off another round of birther wars between her and Dr Kate

A “substitute teacher” asked her class how many of them were Sarah Palin fans.

Not really knowing what a Sarah Palin fan is, but wanting to be liked by the teacher, all the kids raised their hands except for Little Johnny.

The teacher asked Little Johnny why he has decided to be different...again.

Little Johnny said, 'Because I'm not a Sarah Palin fan.'

The teacher asked, 'Why aren't you a Sarah Palin fan?'

Johnny said, 'Because I'm a Democrat.'

The teacher asked him why he's a Democrat.

Little Johnny answered, 'Well, my Mum's a Democrat and my Dad's a Democrat, so I'm a Democrat.'

Annoyed by this answer, the teacher asked, 'If your Mum was a moron and your Dad was an idiot, what would that make you?'

Little Johnny replied, 'A Sarah Palin fan.'

I find myself curious what book she's even talking about. The only book I see anywhere online with the title "From Kansas to Kenya," and the only book at Amazon that registers in a search for the phrase, is a book about wine.

Loren - That's why we need to know every detail of Barack Mohammed Obama's past. We didn't know he was a vintner until jbjd told us! (I think he had the winery next to Fess Parker's.)

Library of Congress also only lists the vintner book you see on Amazon. Searching under "Kenya to Kansas" (which seemed like a possibly natural transcription error or error of recall), all I see is a Farm Journal Media treatise titled "Birthplace of new breeds: CIMMYT's work boosts grain yields from Kenya to Kansas". BIRTHPLACE! JACKPOT!

But seriously. This is straight from the old agitprop handbook. Provide plausible specificity with your lies. When they are debunked, revert to "Why are you getting all high-n-mighty over some stupid detail like the title of a book? It was some book. The classrooms are filled with them."

I ran across an article sometime back, related to a specific subject that I study. I was extremely interesting. Amazing, even. It appeared credible, as it claimed to be "Reprinted with permission from <book name> by <author's name>, <pulisher>, <date>".

I started studying the matter, and nothing in the article added up. The original "author" did exist, but would have been carrousing in the 1880s in gambling saloons with prostitutes at age two. With his cousin, also aged two.

I found this whole thing so compelling, I studied the biography of the supposed author, who was noted to have been a sober and honest man. He never wrote a book of any sort. I found also that he book title does not and has not ever existed. The publishing company has never existed. People in the article (and quoted) never existed, and well known persons were never in the area at the time the story took place. A photo purported to be taken in central Arizona in 1880s was actually taken in France in appx. 1910.

Every single word in the article was a lie. I don't mind people writing historical fiction, but to claim to have been "reprinted with permission", using a real man's name, claiming a non-existent book and non-existent publisher reduces it to outright LIES.

I would love to reprint the article in a historical publication I write for, with commentary on how to reasearch bogus stories, but that would be copyright infringement! I can't reprint the lies in order to debunk every one of them.

I saw jbjd was here today and wondered what was up with that? So, I went to her blog and found she has a new entry. "A ROADMAP to ELECTION FRAUD in TEXAS in the 2008 PRESIDENTIAL (ELECTORS) ELECTION"

It's a graphics heavy pdf that has been scribed by jeffersonsrebel. A combined effort between the two of them. Concept by jeffersonsrebel, text by jbjd, etc.

broken:

or here on Scribd:

Another Birther Partnership!

jeffersonsrebel is also known as Ericathunderpaws.

EricaThunderpaws got me to thinking about Erica, who posted here for a little bit. Remember her? She came here and started two topics before she left.:

Who really wrote "Dreams From My Father"?
and
Terrorism and testosterone thread <--I believe that topic was renamed to it's current name.

Would you be surprised if one of EricaThunderpaws very first diaries at RedState was:

"Corrected: Sexual Depravity Breeds Savage Jihadists" - Posted by ericathunderpaws (Profile)

http://www.redstate.com/ericathunderpaw ... jihadists/

RedState Profile:

And Erica, if you look up my i/p, you're gonna find thousands of people have the same coordinates.

Quote:
Four different ip addresses, hosted by Verizon, all reveal an identical latitude and longitude. What might be the explanation for this?

jeffersonsrebel / EricaThunderpaws graphics style looked very familiar. Yes, by George, it's the very same graphics style used by Charlie Kerchner in his Washington Times inserts, as well as to spam the internet. Those are also done by jeffersonsrebel/ericathunderpaws

I looked at the pretty pictures, but I still can't find the "fraud" part. Perhaps jbjd can explain?

I think the "fraud" part is "the scary black man won, therefore there must have been fraud"

Oh, properties on this flyer are kinda interestinhg. The Name is given as Jeanne, created on 25 Feb 2010. And I see I'm not the only one using iWork. Though they haven't upgraded to Snow Leopard yet - older PowerPC machine "Jeanne"??
