Has he yet said what will happen to money pay him for this if he doesn't raise the total amount he needs? Say instead of raising the full $25K, he raises $10K. Is he going to send that $10K back to the people who paid him, since he won't be able to deliver the product/service they believe they're paying for, or is he just going to keep it and tell them that he warned them up front that he could only get the think if he raised $25K, and since enough people didn't buy in, those who did are just SOL?

If not Smith, what other forger would Ed be involved with?

Or you could be correct and he's making it all up AGAIN. That's the most likely scenario, and I don't believe Ed Hale paid out $36 for anything much less $36,000.
