It turns out that we have all been misled. The Mayan Calendar actually ends on Tuesday, December 21, 2010. That is the date of the rare combination of a lunar eclipse and the Winter Solstice. It occurs every 456 years, and we all remember how bad 1554 was, at least for Lady Jane Grey and Coronado.

Reminder that tonight is the night of the eclipse and/or end of the world. Midpoint is 00:16 PST tomorrow morning.

If you should go to the coast of Norway at or about 56N, 4:30W -- you might be able to observe a selenehelion (sun and moon both visible).
(Technically both the sun and the moon are below the horizon, but due to refraction they are both visible.)

I thought that the Mayan Calendar finished in 2012. That is what all the end times sites have been saying. If it is 2010 have I missed it. We usually have fireworks on the Sydney Harbour Bridge for that sort of thing and there wasn't a sign of them.

Times are EDT. Medical/Dental runs from 8:30 to 11:30, Left Coast time.

The Google Calendar display events in your time zone that you set in your preferences. Also, the ending times are meaningless since the dockets only show starting times. I just guess at those.
