I stand corrected. Memory is the second thing to go....

(Can I have a half point for getting the "Britt" part right?)

The first thing to go is always the ability to tolerate fools gladly. We've finally discovered that there is no point to that and that seriously bad things can happen if we tolerate foolishness (or worse). Some fools never mature, as we saw on the floor of the House yesterday. Elderly fools are the worst.

On the other hand, our ability not only to tolerate differences among people but even to be thrilled by how different we are goes up. Fools are the exception.

What happened on the House floor yesterday? I've had weekend guests and haven't kept up with the news, and something happening in the US Congress wouldn't necessarily make it into a UK newscast anyway.

(going off to try and find it online)

No. You are not the only one. Though it did take me a minute to figure out that he was talking about the "czars".

For the first few moments, I was thinking "What does Dautsun and Nissan have to do with this?"

Confused me even more - in the UK we used have a TV cop show called "Z Cars"

Seriously though the regulars at the Betrayal are starting to worry me they seem to be ramping up the rhetoric towards violence.

Ha, Ha! Me too! The Datsun/Nissan Z-cars were really nifty. To get this thread back to birferism, I did a little research on the BOAC archive website. To illustrate the absurdity of the idea of a pair of impecunious lower-division college students, one of them pregnant, taking a trip for two to Kenya in 1961, it cost about $4000 up-front. No financing. A new 1969 Z-car cost about $3000, and you could get financing. My cousin bought one after he graduated from college. But then he got married and had a kid, and traded it in for a station wagon.

Seems to me like this person requires some correspondence. Some of you seem bored and need something to do. Those are two entirely unrelated statements. That's all I have to say about that. 8-)

I listened to the clip. It speaks of how strange that the U.S. might elect a president of Luo ethnicity and heritage before Africa. Does not mention citizenship.

No huge surprise there.

I did not listen but expected that was the case. They are not real good a connecting the dots. If they were doing one of those pictures where you draw from one number to the next to reveal the picture (can't remember what they're called) but they would perhaps begin with 1 but would go to 22, then 64, finish have the picture and proclaim it is something totally different that was intended.

I believe they are called "connect-the-dots" pictures.

I went with my mother and talked with Mike Coffman, a U.S. rep here in Colorado about the eligibility case. Pretty much no knowledge of the eligibility case. He and his colleagues don’t think Obama wasn’t born in Hawaii so they are buffooned into thinking that any person born to an American citizen (one parent) is a US citizen. They argue that McCain was a US citizen even though not born on American soil.

This is a non issue for them. Frankly, I liked Coffman, but he’s a first termer who thinks the way to affect change is to get Congress to agree to a balanced budget amendment; even to have the Constitution amended to have it balanced. Good luck with that; and even if it was in the Constitution, good luck with enforcing it. The bums have run roughshod all over the Constitution for 75 years since the Fed was created and Federal income tax applied.

He doesn’t even believe in Sovreignty, really. I mean I asked him shouldn’t States actually do what is suggested in the Constitution; secede if the Federal government becomes another King George (which it has)? No, he only believes in doing things thru reps and senators in congress and accepting whatever outcome.

It occurs to me that if it were 1776, Coffman would be for letter writing and talking, but firmly against revolution and the Declaration of Independence. Policy wise, he is a conservative, but in action, has the heart and resolve of a liberal.

(CNSNews.com) – The Senate voted to end debate and move to a final vote on President Obama’s first judicial nominee, former ACORN fundraiser Judge David F. Hamilton, who disallowed invoking Jesus’ name in prayers in the Indiana Legislature. Ten Republicans voted to allow a floor vote on Hamilton’s nomination, thus assuring his confirmation.

From Canada Free Press comes this, posted by Lynn Dartez. With their usual tabloid style subtle, understatement they proclaim:
Quote:
Remember it for your grandchildren: Saturday, November 21, 2009—the day of the Transformation of America.

That’s the day Global Marxism will begin its inexorable march to take down the Free World, starting with its leader the United States of America.

There will be no shots fired, but the aim of the U.S. Senate’s poison arrow is right on target at the heart of humanity.

While America’s Marxist President is abroad, Senate Majority House Leader Harry Reid is tying the red ribbon bow on his Christmas present, the Transformation, and Take Down of the United States of America.

*snip*

They follow that with a ridiculous relevant Glenn Beck citation:
Quote:
This is Marxism’s big moment in latter day history and Glenn Beck, crying in the wilderness, is right when he says there is a method to their (Congress’s) madness: Marxism.

*snip*

Then they finish this complete and utter b.s. skillful, well-reasoned analysis:

Quote:
Unless patriots can find a legal way to stop the Health Bill’s passing, on Saturday, Sunday, November 22, 2009 will mark the first day of the debut of global Marxism, 46 years to the day that President John Kennedy was assassinated in Dallas.

(I'm a bit surprised they missed the opportunity to trumpet Lee Harvey Oswald's Marxism here.)

So there it is, Obots. As soon as we get a health care bill to the floor in the Senate, we will have achieved our goal. First the United States, then the World will fall to our evil empire.

Great job, everyone. HQ is pleased.

If universal healthcare is the measure of "Marxism". it'll be a pretty short march.

Yeah. They are an endangered species in the United States since Christians constitute what -- 70% of America? If they can't push their religion on all of us (and one specific version of their religion) then they are endangered. For these fools religion can't stand or fall on its own merits (or lack thereof). Rather, it requires the machinery of the states and federal government for these racist clowns. That's probably why they don't go to the movies, read books or watch popular television. Much of those industries are dominated by people who are not racist Christian clowns.
