Orly Taitz has spoken out in support of suspended Indiana Secretary of State Charlie White, following White’s conviction on six felony counts of voter fraud, perjury, and theft of public funds.
Speaking on her website, Taitz stated that White was thrown out of office “on a technicality”, apparently referring to White’s removal from office after a jury of Indiana citizens returned the six guilty verdicts.
Special Prosecutor John Dowd presented the jury with more than 60 exhibits, including White’s voting records, a lease on his condominium, employee records, telephone records and evidence concerning cell tower connectivity to prove that White lied about his place of residence in order to continue collecting a salary from the town council district he was elected to serve.
Taitz’ support of the beleaguered White is peculiar in more ways than one. In 2010, Taitz unsuccessfully sought the Republican nomination for California Secretary of State in the June primary. Before the primary votes were certified, Taitz brought a legal action to halt the count, asserting that her opponent, Damon Dunn, a black real estate developer, had made false statements on his declaration of candidacy. Taitz alleged that Dunn had committed fraud by omitting his prior voter registration as a Democrat in Florida but the case was dismissed and is now on appeal by Taitz. While Taitz claims that Dunn’s alleged omissions should have barred him from the office of Secretary of State in California, she is not nearly as protective of the citizens of Indiana. There, a public official who receives a salary under false pretenses is qualified to serve – despite the opinion of a citizen jury.
Taitz often claims to be a crusader against public corruption and voter fraud, but when offered an opportunity to applaud efforts to clean up our public offices, she merely uses the event to further her own political jihad against President Obama. As usual, she stops for a sound bite and then spits out her own chewed up analysis: “If they removed Charlie White, they should remove Obama too”.
If you are a black man seeking office or in office then Orly Taitz is very concerned that you might be committing voter fraud. She would like to see you arrested and the sooner the better. But if you are a white Republican in the Midwest convicted on multiple felony counts by a jury presented with overwhelming evidence? Orly Taitz has got your back.
