Realist and Tolland - I'll note your wisdom and not attempt this dish until I have some genuine NM chiles to use!

I'll have to check with our quarantine rules - I think it might be unlikely that I can import the dried chiles but I've had a look at the site you provided and the ground chile powder looks like it will be good (I might try their ready made adovada marinade mix as well - as Mexican oregano is a little out of my reach as well!)

Forgot about the quarantine rules; sorry. I have rarely found bugs in dried chile pods but they do turn up, so the quarantine makes sense.

They add a distinctive zip to the dish.

At New Mexico State University, Las Cruces. Seeds can be ordered (note special info for international orders). Simply put, I would not try to grow a NM chile pepper in Connecticut. It's just not right. But parts of Australia might be ideal, and they might take care of those pesky cane toads. The Naga Viper might be especially effective.

New Mexico chiles are unique in flavor and something I look forward to every year. We only see them here fresh for a couple of weeks in season, but reconstituted dried pods still carry that wonderful flavor.

I was thrilled this year to find that my Nob Hill foods was fire roasting and quick freezing them, charred skins still on, so that we'd have them available all year. I used them last time I made salsa...Mmmmmmmmm.

Anyway, I think that I'm gonna use the fry bread and carne adovada as the main course for our always untraditional Christmas brunch. I can get up early to get everything going in the slow cooker, then go back to bed for a couple hours.

Don't forget the AT LEAST 12 hours of marinating (24 is better).

Absolutely I'll go with the 24! I intend to follow your prefered method all the way through.

As long as it doesn't detour to sports. Ellie hated sports talk. I don't think anyone has mentioned that, but she'd always object.

Absolutely. Didya know that I started the Recipes thread at Politijab in response to Ellie hounding me in the chat room for my hot fudge pudding cake recipe?

I will always think of her when I prepare that luscious dessert.

Oh, my. I know I'm going to be spending a lot of time at the PJ recipe exchange this weekend. Here is BB's hot fudge thingy recipe and her introduction of the thread.

In chat one night recently we began talking about favorite recipes. Well, ellie, just for you I have started this thread so you can have my recipe for Hot Fudge Pudding Cake.

Enjoy!

Thank you so much!

Edit: But isn't there a discrepancy with the cocoa? The "2 tablespoons cocoa" in the recipe seems to refer to the "4 tablespoons cocoa" in the ingredients; likewise the "1/4 cup cocoa" vs. the "1/2 cup cocoa."

:(( :(( :((
Ellie, where are you?

Edit: My conclusion after reviewing some recipes online is that the ingredients are correct, but that they were scaled up from an original, smaller recipe and the corresponding changes were not made in the directions.

Of course, I defer to anyone who has actual experience with baking it!

Ellie was funny, so funny - but also straight to the point. We will need someone to step up to the plate and figure out what the hell is going on with Orly's foundation(s) and whether they are really registered as tax-exempt or non-profit charities or whatever the hell is going on with them. Remember Ellie giving Orly hell about those on the radio one time?

Yes, I remember that!

Danny Marrow

at about 44.40 min Raol Duke (Obot) calls in to ask about the birt certificates and Lucas Smith. O Rly says "I have received one from a Registrar in Kenya! :^o and another came from Lucas Smith.
She lies that Discovery was only stayed after Carter's new clerk was hired [@ 46.50]. Raol then asks what happened to [Lucas] ... she doesn't know

[circa 55min] Danny soporifically witters on about how previous presidents have been Obama can be arrested and asks O Rly if she agrees. long pause (even O Rly obviously had been losing the will to live) "ahh... er um.. I'm sorry what exactly did you say?" =))

Ellie Paxman calls @ 59.48 =D> with questions about her Foundation or Foundations. O Rly claims the is no Foundations only DO Foundation. Orly claims it is Registered with State of California. Ellie asks for the CT number. O Rly doesn't have it to hand. Ellie asks if she would post it on her website .... O Rly "finds it" - C3189036 date filed Feb 09. Ellie points out it is a corporation no. not a non-profit CT no. O Rly claims she has filed with IRS for 501 status but not yet received it.

[@64.00] The prospect of having to talk to/listen to Danny any more causes O Rly to run away to attend to her pleadings

Its almost worth listening on for the sneezing, nose blowing and snuffling that punctuates this oafs interminable witterings, but not quite.

Orly LIED, of course. She told me to go to the Calif. Attny General's site and look it up, hoping to mollify me. Don't think she was pleased to hear that I already had. BOTH entities are shown on the CAG's site. The entity DOFFs, the one that she claims does not exist, is the one with a corporation number. The one she SOLICITS under has no corporate number. NEITHER has a CT (Charitable Trust = non-profit= tax exempt) number. On Calif Sec of Stase site, DOFFs (the one that she claims doesn't exist) shows a Corp #. The one that she solicits under shows no results.

Federal IRS tax exempt 501(c)(3) approval is NOT required to get a California CT. I suspect at this point she may have applied for 501, because she used the terminology "Letter of Determination"/"Determination Letter", which is what one would receive upon approval. IF paperwork were done correctly and approved, it should take about 6 weeks. Wonder which entity applied?

However, the fact that neither of the "foundations" have been assigned a CT# suggests to me hat she is incapable of properly completing the paperwork or that the org's "purpose" is not one considered for a charity. (I kinda doubt that the AG of CA regards "removing the Kenyan Muslim usurper" a legitimate charitable tax-exempt purpose)

I also doubt that she will obtain 501 from the IRS. It involves careful paperwork submission, and must include the exact stated purpose as submitted to the state.

Today, I have finally come across some pertinent and interesting Calif. law regarding soliciting donations. I want to go over it again & if appropriate, will post it.

For the last four years, I've worked with a Bay Area charity called the Chronicle Season of Sharing Fund. They provide emergency, one-time assistance for seniors, the disabled and families with underage children, and all the expenses (including my wages) are paid for by the Chronicle and Haas Jr. Fund. Considering Ellie's love of Elders and hatred of dishonest "charities," it seemed appropriate to do a little in her honor.

This appeared in the Season of Sharing Fund Daily Donor List in the Bay Area section, page C5, of today's San Francisco Chronicle:

"FB & PJ, in loving memory of Ellie Wyatt"
