Not to mention ducks, dolphins, and eagle owls. Plus cats that think they are cobras.

And our granddog who thought he was a cat for the first year of his life. He still paws at wiggly things like a cat does, but at least he finally quit "purring" at us. We thought he hated us because every time we picked him up or petted him, he growled. He thought he was purring, but it took us a while to figure that out.

That sounds a little basenji-ish. A lot of them "chortle" which is a very growly sound but is happy. It's very often a greeting.

Our little Gizmo is a weird looking long-haired Chihuahua. He's sweet, but not too bright.

A local organization is providing therapy dogs for our students. They are here every day in the lounge reserved for veterans, but this week -- finals week -- they are on the first floor of the main Library (where students buy coffee and hang out). The dogz include a black Newfoundland (183 lbs.) and a St. Bernard. They are very popular.

If you saw students during finals week, you would understand that some kids actually need this.

You don't have to be a good Oregonian to understand this...but it probably helps.

My doggie, Cheyenne, has pneumonia. :( We noticed she was acting funny at the end of last week; shaking, lethargic, with a very unusual breathing pattern; so we took her to see her (very good looking) vet. He did a full work-up and diagnosed her with pneumonia. She's nine years old and only the second time she's ever been sick; she got giardia a few years ago from drinking too much lake water.

Anyhow, she got a dose of IM antibiotics on Friday, and the doc started her on PO Cipro and Ceflexin. The antibiotics are doing a number on her GI tract. Anyone have any advice on calming a doggie tummy during a course of antibiotics?

I'm so sorry you doggie is sick! I hope she gets better soon.
I know Pepto Bismol is safe for dogs, but I don't know if it interferes with antibiotics. You would have to ask your vet. Once she's better some Pro-biotic might be helpful.

But you could try Pepto for her upset tummy - the dosage is based on weight. Pepto Bismol OK for dogs

My vet recommends mixing 1tbs of yogurt into each meal.

My vet says boiled chicken and white rice. For a dog who existed on garbage, squirrels, and "poached" chicken for more than a year, she has a surprisingly sensitive stomach.

Will she eat jello? Maybe using chicken stock in lieu of water? Even the unflavored gelatin works, either made up or just the powder on her food. That's been recommended for our cats, dogs and kids with stomach problems.

Sweet potatoes are good for a doggie's upset digestive track and for diarrhea.
