SO sorry SueEdB. I have gone through this so many times myself in the past year and I can feel for you. I can understand the need for a new kitty (or two) perhaps you can contact your local rescue society and see if they are having an Adoptathon any time in the future, they have them here all the time at the local Petsmart, often they have two siblings in cages that "have to be adopted together" as the two of them are so attached. I wish you the best of luck finding your next furballs.

Maru - that is hilarious! My kitties know that the minute I walk through the door it is "cat treat time" and FSM forbid that I do not IMMEDIATELY give them the cat treats (and no Stern I am not chumming for cats). Just as in the morning when I go to the kitchen and make my morning tea, open the fridge and take out the milk, it is Kitty Milk Time! In fact Ms. Peaches insists that every time the fridge door is opened it is "Ms. Peaches milk time" the fridge door is not allowed to be opened without Ms. Peaches being given a drop of milk. (Which just reminds me I forgot to buy milk this evening on my way home, it might have to be Ms Peaches whipped cream time in the morning).

Ha! The only problem I am having with my two foster kitties is the fact that they only want to eat Purina Cat Chow. (Their previous foster mama was poor and had lots of cats so that's what they got.) My elderly kitty with tummy problems has to eat a fancy-shmancy special limited ingredient food, so my two boykitties eat that too. The fosters turn up their little noses at the fancy food, they want their Purina. I;m no longer segregating them, so everyone shares food. Purina gives my elderly kitty terrible diarrhea, so fosters are going to have to learn to make do with the high-end food. The poor boy kitty keeps meowing mournfully by the food dish. And they keep breaking into the cupboard where I still have half a bag of Purina,a trying to get at it. Last night they chewed open a bag of popped popcorn, thinking it might be kitty food.

It seems as if these cat tales keep getting funnier and funnier. And the reason they are funny is that they are just so true to life. I see my cats in almost all these stories. I have never had a cat that was finicky -- or even close to being finicky. They'll eat anything -- including whatever's on my plate -- especially if it involves ice cream. I have learned to never put my plate or bowl down while I'm eating and to eat quickly, preferably in a small room with the door closed -- which basically means the bathroom since I have an open floor plan type layout. If I have ice cream, my cats have taught to put a little bit in a separate bowl for them. It's that or trying to keep two or three cats off my lap and they furry parts out of my ice cream. I love my cats. :xo :xo

Started looking for 2 kittehs today....went around a couple of places (animal shelter has an absolutely beautiful seal point Siamese - she doesn't do well with other cats) :(

Nothing hit my heartstrings...

I had placed a couple of emails to some pet organizations around the area.....

I just got a call YAY! It will take a day or two since the 2 kittehs are in foster care in the town next door.

They are 2 kittehs - both very young and raised together (wanted to adopt out both to one owner) 6 months.

One is a "grey" cat was female and the other is an orange tabby was male. Ever since I have read the Freak Brothers comix, I always wanted an orange cat like Fat Freddie's Cat.

We'll see them probably Friday night to see if we can hit it off.

Looks like a kitteh tree is in the future for my office. \:D/ 8-) [-o<

In a weak moment, having just come from a massage and feeling all happy and glowing, I stop by the local Walmart where I saw people stopping to look in a big plastic bin sitting next to 2 little girls. Being the nosy person that I am, I had to take a look. The bin was full of kittens -- kittens that I had to have (it didn't matter that I already had 2 cats at home.) I ended up with 2 of these really tiny kittens. For the first few days, they stayed together. There were a number of times when they were wrapped together in a ball of fur -- a ball so tightly "wrapped" where it was hard, at a first glance, to figure out which tail went with which head. I regret that I didn't have a camera to take pictures because they literally were my little fur balls.

What cuties!

There's something about the orange ones... Three years on, I'm still missing my little red girl, Henna. Big orange and white tabby with a teeny tiny meow who loved to snuggle under the covers.

Yep, the orange ones are special (Dawg would probably say they're extra tasty.)

Glad you realize this.

I was just remembering back to when my kitteh was little and how nuts she went at night. Had to shut her in the utility room some nights. Once, she managed to get herself inside a wall!

Our orange tabby Sancho looked just like Cowboy when he was little - now, however, he looks pretty much exactly like the sumo wrestler above! Orange cats are special. He's just a thoroughly grand guy.

Anyone know if that orange gene has anything to do with "meow" vocabulary? Of all the cats we've had, and we've had a lot of "talkers", Sancho has by far the most expressive range of any of them.

And scheduled? He knows exactly when everything is supposed to happen and he's right there to police things every time...especially feeding time and brushing time. (He has us trained very well.)

It's funny. Every time we've lost a kitteh, we've thought we'd never find one who could take their place. And we've been right. New kittehs are their own selves and they each have their own special way of coming into your life and crawling into your heart.

Good wishes for great kittehs to you and Mrs. DB, Sue.

I've heard the same thing, Sue, but there's a female orange tabby who comes around every day where I work to get fed. I was curious and looked it up online. Turns out about 80% of orange cats are male. (Calicos are almost always female though.)

Enjoy your meet-up tomorrow!

Not quite, though red girls are rare, there are female orange kitties. For example, my dear departed Henna girl.

Here she is subtly hinting that it's not warm enough in the apartment for her tastes. ;)

My vet said the estimate is that only about 25% of marmies are female.

Uh oh, be careful or you'll have 3 cats.

My outdoor black cat, Sooner, just appeared and settled in one day. He was pretty well socialized and healthy, although his fur was so matted that I had to give him a mohawk to get them all out. I never found out where he came from.

Well, dayum! Are you ready for three cats?

I say this because our newest baby - Sirius Black - started life with us in just that way. He hung around outside, was very friendly and, like your Miss Ginger, had clearly been loved before. So we became a three kitty family again, after vowing to stick to two. Haven't had a moment of regret either. In a completely different way he's special too.

He is NOT, however, a talker. Best he can do in really dire circumstances is come out with these short tiny little peeps. Kind of pathetic really, but we love him anyway.

In fact Sirius used to be my avatar here. Somehow he vanished and I haven't taken the time to figure out how to bring him back, but I will again someday soon.
Edit: ducktape, it's really wild that you also had a black kitty who showed up in your life the same way. Glad yours has been as nice an unexpected addition as ours!
