I have an old Army parka that I put on before giving Miss Kitty her shower along with the cattle hide gloves. The easy way was to just put all this on, then get in the shower with Miss Kitty. At least she can be held. YEEEEEOUCH!

I got a jury summons once. I called Pat (the jury summons clerk) and said "hey Pat I am not a US citizen, I am reckoning I can't do this thing" she agreed with me. Have not got a summons since.

Doesn't a wet Army parka weigh about 500 pounds? I've never been too sure which gender SuEdB claims, but either way, the picture of someone bundled up in a parka and heavy gloves rinsing an angry cat in a shower...

It's scarier than the shower scene in "Psycho"!

So a parka, heavy gloves, bare legs and a frantic cat in the shower. I'm hoping this eventually makes it to youtube.

My cat has made bath time much easier by tumbling into the tub at least twice a month. She also lit herself with a candle twice.
Sounds like you were made for each other Mari

I have lived with cats almost continuously for 27 years and I can count on one hand the number of times I have bathed one. Once for fleas, twice for "poopie problems" and once after an accident in the carrier on the way home from the vet when he was on high doses of diuretics. Mine have always done a fine job cleaning themselves. Right now I am watching one groom the other! One time one fell in the tub with me and I'm lucky I didn't get torn to shreds!

At least they aren't falling into the toilet water. They don't make a very good toilet brush unless you close the lid then flush it....

Kitty Swirly! (That is so mean, SuEdB) I have one right now who loves to watch the toilet flush. He'll come running from any corner of the house when he hears the water.

Yeah, I don't bathe cats. Dangerous to me and unwelcome to her -- I just let her take care of her own self.

For that matter, we happen to have dogs that don't get bathed, either. They are self-groomers and HATE water (like cats). So no animal baths for us! This frees up time for us to cruise the internet.

Ya gotta keep yer sense of humor...

Ginger likes to sit and watch anytime someone goes into the bathroom. She will run through the door before it closes, then spend her time trying to wrap around your legs, scratching herself on the stand, and just starting at you like you did something.

Speak for yourself. Weeny has been there too.... and in the washing machine while loading and thinks nothing of walking across the oven while a flame is on a burner. As you can probably imagine, I keep watch over her at all times. The other cat is a cat and doesn't do stuff like this.

Ps. Ages ago I posted a pic of Weeny where she was eager to greet me after work, pushed a screen out of a top floor window, came on the sill, and sailed out at me landing in the bushes.

Weeny is very cute, very sweet, but is undeniably as dumb as a bag of hammers. :P

I used to have a beautiful, sweet blue-eyed Balinese kitty named Jazz(Jazzpurr Joss for long). He came from a breeder, but he had swimmers chest and I signed a paper promising not to breed him.

He was sweet and normal for 6 months until one day he lost his mind and bit through an electrical cord. I arrived in the room in time to see him sail all the way across to the opposite wall and slide down into a little furry heap. He was never the same. He was the bag of nails to Weenie's bag of hammers. But still sweet. It was disconcerting to have him stare at you for any length of time. He couldn't focus and his eyes shivered from side to side almost constantly. I loved him dearly. :xo

My little brother did something kinda similar. He was tired of tripping over the cord to his little electric keyboard thing and decided to nail it to the floor. We heard a kaboom and then silence.

He recovered fine. He also recovered fine from the time I slammed his finger in the door and he lost the tip.

He never has liked cats, though. I'm sure there's a connection to something.

I once had to bathe our (as I called him) "dog trapped in the body of a cat", Chipper, because he'd tangled with a skunk. He stood in the laundry tub, wet, shaking and growling at me, but that was the extent of it.

Now if it had been our female Sushi, I'd have drawn back bleeding stumps for hands. If Sushi had had an opposable thumb, she'd have led a revolution much bloodier than anything the French could imagine! (Even without one, she managed to break out of every cat carrier we ever put her in.)

I've been a "dog person" since I left home 30+ years ago, but I grew up with both cats & dogs & will probably welcome a new cat into my home one day when I retire. I had sad news today, that my Mom's orange tabby cat of 17 years !! Died today after surgery for a mass in his abdomen.

May he RIP. His whole family really loved him....even the dogs.

Mahalo Estiveo for your condolences. :(( Was the only smiley that was remotely appropriate. But it's not appropriate.

Whodda thunk, that a dog-lover like me, would still feel so sad about a cat.

I hate cats and dogs dying. Nothing will get me blubbering like a baby like that. And I prefer cats. There are few people who inspire such emotion in me.
