Re: Fire!

The possibility of rain is in the forecast for Thursday. Sure hope that happens. Just the cooler temps will help.

Re: Fire!

HilltownGrrl: glad your friends are ready to leave if need be. I told my sister that we have a plan (cat in carrier, purse/wallet first, then valuables) and everything portable that's important/valuable/sentimental is easy to grab in suitcases in my closet. Hubby is retired fire chief and she says "...

Re: Fire!

Thanks, RV & maydijo.

This is the second one for our family. Fortunately they got out this time.

Last time, my Mom died when her house burned down in a windstorm. She only had hard-wired smoke detectors so there was no warning after the power went out.

Re: Fire!

My wine guy was in Napa on Saturday. I texted him today to check on him but haven't heard back. I've read cell service is down in many areas. Yes, my sister-in-law could only get one text message out, to my brother in Marin. Brother-in-law said usually they get right on top of these fires, but the ...

Re: Fire!

My brother and his wife have lost their home in Santa Rosa. He awoke to smoke during the night and saw fire and cars exploding at the edge of their subdivision. They evacuated to their daughter's home across the freeway. Then they were told to evacuate from there. They are now in Healdsburg at the h...

Re: Puerto Rico Hurricane Recovery

I am feeling blessed to have so little damage from Irma. Aside from a week without electric and a fridge of spoiled food we suffered nothing other than inconvenience. What is happening and will happen in PR is horrific. I am not sure, but it seems like the emergency response has been inadequate. If...

Re: No Catz but Kate's OK

Is the fountain you spoke of one of those made for constant running water for kitties? The motors on those things are very hard to keep clean with the water always running through, the one I had was always getting slick and icky. Yeah. It is a vic described. It was a pain to clean, even though the ...

It is already happening. I hope lawsuits can keep the destroyers at bay. The Trump admin auctioned off an imperiled bird habitat to oil companies for a whopping $14,837 The Trump administration has auctioned off acres of habitat for the sage-grouse, which narrowly missed making the endangered specie...

And I was so proud of myself for using tap water filted by my Pur system :bag: This is the first place I have lived or worked where I didn't drink tapwater. You would think with the beautiful American river running through it, Sacramento would have good water, but no. I tried a Britta but it still ...

Re: Thanks to all the lawyer-types here

Sorry Azastan. Did they make you go to a mediator? Sounded to me like the mediator in our case didn't look at a thing - didn't read the actual complaint- and didn't even mention the cats much less add a stay-away order for the cats, which the Judge who issued the TRO specified. Fortunately, I think ...

Thanks to all the lawyer-types here

I just wanted to thank you all for what I have learned over the years here. We sought a restraining order against our neighbor for his constant threats to us and our cats (he put out poisoned salmon and vandalized a cat feeder) and spitting/throwing trash over the fence. He spat on my herb garden an...

Re: North Korea

Really dumb question here. I understand we don't want anymore nukes in the world, especially in the hands of crazy regimes, and for good reason, but doesn't North Korea or any other country that wants them have a right to make them? Why are we (Trump) threatening them with annihilation when they see...
