Eligibility: Three Theories
Birthers have three main theories -- based on lies and misunderstandings about the facts and the law -- upon which they base their claims that Barack Obama is not eligible to be President of the United States.
In this section of the site, we'll explain and debunk these three theories. We'll discuss the so-called "evidence" the birthers offer in support of the theories, and why the theories are all simply lies.
The Simple Truth:
President Obama was born in Honolulu, Hawaii, on August 4, 1961. He acquired U.S. citizenship at birth, and is therefore a "natural born citizen" of the United States of America, eligible to serve as president under the U.S. Constitution.
He did not lose his citizenship as a result of being adopted in Indonesia by his stepfather, Lolo Soetoro. Legally, he could not have lost his American citizenship as a minor; further, there is no evidence that he was ever adopted.
He is the only president in U.S. history who showed the public a copy of his official birth certificate before being elected.
His dual citizenship at birth (American and British) is no impediment to his eligibility, and in any event, his British citizenship expired on his 23st birthday.
It's that simple. All these statements are based on provable facts and established law. In case you have any questions, please join our forum (link at the top of the page) and ask our community. We have the true answers that debunk each and every detail of the birther lies.
